Anyone with a newer gen Toyota truck wish they still had their first gen?

Bought my 2018 about 8 months ago, and I enjoy it, but for 33k I wish I would have just kept my 1st gen Tundra.

I’m considering turning the truck into a dealer for $31k, and picking up a decent 1st gen Tacoma or Tundra to change it up, then probably throw the remaining cash into a mustang GT or Hellcat fund.

Anyone do this switch or consider it?

After having a 3rd gen rental for 2 weeks I can safely say I will keeping my 2nd gen. Wasn't a huge fan.

I wouldn’t go back to a first gen Tacoma but a clean 1st gen tundra with the 4.7 Is something I had considered before my 3rd gen

    That’s cause you own a 2nd gen.
Thinking I’m going back to a 1st gen Tundra. I absolutely loved that truck. Too many memories.

Having a 1st gen as well, the 3rd gen beats it in every way. Now if I could get a 1st-gen, reg-cab, 4x4, v6, 5MT in the crate (0 miles). That would be a different story because: Dream Truck. But it also wouldn't be my DD.

my ist gen seating was tight in both position an my knee hitting 4x4 control. I was always thinking about the frame. I went for the 4cyl this time around and get about 6mpg better. the new truck runs like a swiss watch no belt to change and no injector's to clean. I talk on the phone all the time through the truck.and have used heated mirrors a lot this winter. THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY I WOULD GO BACK!!

I had a 1st gen tundra it was my dream truck, dialed in and I was ready to drive it into the ground. It was wrecked last fall so I figured I'd try something else. The 1st gen Tundra's gas mileage is horrendous 10 city 13 hwy and it wouldn't fit in my garage. So, decided to downsize and try something newer. I didn't need a truck that large.

I got $17,700 for the Tundra from insurance and paid $32,900 for a 17' TRD Offroad with every option and 9k miles.

I don't like having $30k+ tied into a vehicle or something so new I don't want to beat it around but besides that I'm really happy with the decision. The alternative of an overpriced 2nd gen didn't seem worth it. Ran the numbers and a barely used 3rd gen could be driven for a few years and sold for almost no cost to me. Simple decision.

I sold a BMW M5 at the same time, went down to one car and I'm really happy with less crap and more space in the driveway. These Tacomas are pretty sweet.

Did you go MT or AT this time around? I had the AT Tundra, AT 2013, MT 2015 and now a AT 2018.

Just was curious, seems like AT vs MT starts a lot of fights on this forum lol

Wish I had my (pre-Tacoma) 1989 standard cab 2.4lt carb. Just couldn’t break it! A 28 ft rental truck smashed at 40mph. I had a 2nd gen Prerunner (2015) and traded it on a Trd sport 4x4. A few problems but still love it.
