Not many pics showing the back side of the mount but I found one. back_1.jpg The two pieces shown are what sandwich the vent from the back side. Any additional thickness from a decorative trim shouldn't impact the mount since there should be enough thread on the screws.

Wouldn't that setup block a big part of your vision, or is it the camera angle and wide angle distortion making it look like it would? Anything hanging down like that would violate traffic laws.

I have an Iphone X with a battery case.. Would like the most minimalistic car mount possible... The one posted from etsy looks like it would do the trick but Im not sure it would hold the phone.. Anybody using that one that can comment on it?

Alot of it depends on the driver. Stupid mirror blocks more of my vision than the tablet does but I'm tall. Lot of torso means the taco feels cramped. This setup for me I can see some of the tablet in the window but it follows the hood line so its not actually blocking anything the hood didn't already.

I just installed mine in about 10 minutes, that's including time to find my allen wrenches.
I just went from a 2nd Gen where I was and early adopter of the tacomaworld.com/threads/ram-mount-feeler
It is simple, clean, easy to install, unobtrusive and exactly what I wanted to put in my truck!
I have mine mounted in the same way with my phone on the left in an X mount, usually showing me WAZE.
    Good Job HONDO!

I use Proclip as suggested by a couple of coworkers. They're fitted based on your vehicle make/model and mine cost about $80 total for the mount and holder. It's solid when hauling ass through rough roads. The only thing is it blocks the vent and I'll have to buy a new holder which will be $60 when I replace my iPhone 7 Plus.

Thanks for your help. Your advice was excellent. The device mounted very easily over the vent trim piece.

Mobarmor.com makes some great mounts. Magnetic or clamped to the phone and megnetic or clamped to the truck.

Looks like they changed it up from my version but I'm glad it worked out!

Yes, the mount has been improved. The new design allows you to fully open the vent louver.

Love how people on here say a $50 part costs too much. Ugh, the truck was probably $35-40k. Lol

I absolutely love my Rokform case and magnetic dash mount. The phone case has a magnetic mount and a locking ring mount for motorcycles, bicycles, etc. I have a locking mount on the handlebars of my motorcycle and the little black round dash magnet in my Tacoma stuck above the hazard button with adhesive.

I don't have pics of mine so here's some from the website (I know this looks like an ad for them lol)

Anyone used DMM or RAM track on a 2nd gen media console? Specifically the tracks?

Holds my Galaxy S9 plus like a champ. Last phone mount I'll ever buy for the truck.
Don't know if it was necessary, but I used a small strip of 3M double sided outdoor mounting tape to make certain it stays put.
No way the mount is coming off the dash, or the phone coming off the mount unintentionally.
