Advice on shocks

Has anyone used these ProComp brand shocks? https://www.amazon.com/EXP101673-HR...-3&keywords=rear+shocks+1996+tacoma+with+lift No reviews that I can find on Amazon on any ProComp brand shocks. No reviews on 4wheel parts either. Thanks, Stan.

Does anyone know what length OEM shocks are and/or what length I need for 2" lifting shackles?

Look at @HeadStrong Off-Road or a few of the other vendors here. 4 wheel prts is not considered a real great place around here.

 

Not looking @4wheelaprts as a supplier, just that they carry the brand.

 

There might be like 10 people out there that use that brand.

I had a set of ES3000s up front and ES1000s in the back of a 92 Hilux. The 3000s up front with weight were Ok like 4.85/10, the 1000s in the back were garbage 1.78/10. They rode super hard and the rebound was spill your drink rattling. With weight they were ok but marginally so.

 

There are far better brands than procomp.

I mean, yeah, it’s super cheap so it has that going for it...

That said, you can get 4 bilstein 5100 or 4600 shocks for like $300 or so...

 

Thanks, that is what I was looking for.

Any idea what length I should get with 2" lift shackles on KC regular duty leafs? Only looking at the rears, fronts are new.

 

The Bilstein 5100 rear shocks for 1st gen Tacoma's are for 2" lift.

 

5100s will work for up to a 3” lift. Check your brake line, though. You might end up over extending it if you droop your suspension too far.

 

How do the Bilstein 5100s compare with the OME Nitrochargers?

Is this like asking what is better, Ford vs Chevy, and I'll incite a flame war? Or are there well accepted pluses and minuses to both?

I'd like to do an OME 2.5" lift on my '04 Taco DC TRD OR, and had been thinking just to use the Nitrochargers that come with the OME lift kits. But I see that some people use OME coils & leafs, but with the 5100's. What's the advantage of the Bilstein shocks, but with OME springs?
