I am interested in this as well. Just got a 2018 with 5' bed and am looking into tents for this upcoming summer. I am mainly curious on the waterproofing and if some brands are better than others in that area.

I have one for my 6' bed, and I like it. Does it set up to be 1000 sq. ft of living spaces in 30 seconds like a $3k RTT? No.
But I can inflate an airbedz matress and set up my tent in under 20 minutes for sure. Definitly provides a comfy sleeping space if thats all you are wanting to gain.

1000 sq feet? Like the size of a small bungalow?

I was kidding, some roof top tents fold out to provide tons of space for 3+ people to sleep and live. Not 1000sq ft by any means, but they can be impressive.
Two average sized adults can sleep in the bed of a Tacoma, as long as youre good with being close to each other.

Thats exactly what I am wanting. Nothing more. Have you ever noticed any waterproofing issues? Obviously not a huge rainstorm. But some light to medium rain

I have a Kodiak Truck Bed tent for the midsize that is supposed to fit 5' and 6' beds. I used it on a small trailer and kept my bed free to carry gear. It was ok, but i need headroom so I gave in and went with a travel trailer. If you don't mind not being able to stand up straight and have 15-20 minutes for setup and breakdown before moving your truck, they are fine.

I’ve never used it in rain, but I’d imagine a very small drizzle could be ok. The sides would direct it out side the bed and it comes with a rain fly. But not ideal.

    stuff and things...
I had one for a bit, and when my wife and I wanted to go we would just have a tarp setup behind the truck, undue the straps that hold the tent to the fenders, and slide the whole tent with the air mattress in it on the ground...not too bad to get it back in the bed fully setup either...the only pain in the ass was actually getting inside of it, especially if you have an air mattress that goes on the tailgate portion...i would recommend a step stool of some sort...
