Check what the attachment point to the winch drum is. Switching my Warn from steel to synthetic needed a new attachment thingymajig.

You talking about the puck? What line did you end up going with?

Maybe? It was a little piece that basically jammed the end of the synthetic line into the drum if I remember right. I couldn’t get a Xeon 8S locally so I bought the wire cable Xeon 8 and the Warn synthetic line.

If you really need to know the specifics I probably still have the manual and instructions and could dig them up.

Give me a minute to finish this beer and I’ll see if I can find the manuals. Pretty sure I saved them and they’re in the basement.

Yeah there are different drum attachments. Some use a bolt, others slide the rope through the drum, etc. My rope has a lug on it to bolt onto the drum, but you can make it work with other styles as well with a little work.

Been looking into recovery straps- I checked out your website and like the products. Quick question though- what is the difference between a recovery strap and a recovery rope? I've been meaning to buy a strap and I see you have a rope on there for 3 times as much as the strap. Are there certain situations where one is better than the other?

    Hi,

Good question. The tow strap has very little give or stretch to it and is better used when you just need to tow someone like maybe a broken Rig you are pulling out that isn't stuck. Or can be used to get someone unstuck from a simple situation that doesn't require "yanking" on them. Although a lot of us do it anyway, hard throttle yanking on a buried Rig with a tow strap is dangerous as it generates a shock load that likes to break mount points, shackles, Etc.

That is when you want to use the recovery rope. It is elastic and stretches so there is not a harsh shock load so you can yank a stuck Rig out of the mud or snow. They also build kinetic energy and give you a greater pulling force.

    Hope that helps!

@sidetracked Your code was only 10% when I checked the price of soft shackles. Just a heads up, not sure if it’s working that way across the board.

Appreciate it boss, I get how it works. However my Amsteel line doesn’t cave a loop on the drum end to use with the warm puck that’s jam fitted into the drum.

Been on the fence for a while about a recovery rope. $106 shipped for a 1"x30' was too good to pass up though!

    Thanks.
