About to lay my tile tomorrow. Thinking of going with a simple brick set pattern. Any tips before I start?

I'd like to see another picture of the wound. It looks like the tree ha already healed and its just shading the dead wood. It looks to me like the whole part of the trunk has bark rolling into the center this is called wound wood, think of the tree as scabing over. I would need more pictures to be sure. Also are there any buds on the branch tips?

I can do that when I get home. Not sure of the kind of tree. It was bloomed all summer and I didn't even notice it until the fall. It's still alive that's for sure

Put in a solid 6-7 hours on my floor today. Went pretty smooth once I figured out how to not chip the end of the tile when cutting them. Going to try to finish the rest tomorrow and grout Monday.

I just have to say the best home improvement thing I added was the 34 jet spa. I just spent the last hour in it even with a light rain.

I keep it at 102*. It feels so good when you are feeling cold to just hop in and enjoy the hot water.

Got a little work done on the house this weekend, new Craftsman style door from Feather River to replace the very old drafty door. And since we didn’t want to cut a hole in our brand new door I moved the doggy door to the side and some stairs for by girls.

Don't mind the lack of mounding or the half ass smashed out brick  Hopefully this summer I will be taking the exterior down to studs to properly insulate the home and wrap it with Zip Systems and James Hardie siding.

Thanks! It's actually ceramic 7x20 tile. We really liked a 6x24 tile that looked like a whitewashed wood but it was $2.99 a sq ft vs the 0.49 a sq ft we scored this for.

Yeah I got lucky and found a sale on mine at Despot. Think it was 1.25/sq.

Once I am down to studs I am going to tear out whatever source of insulation is there and my friend owns a spray foam insulation company. So he is going to come spray the house from the outside for me, and I will then install Zip sheets over that.

Just a thought, won't that make it a bitch and a half to do any future work on any plumbing/electric/drywall in the future?

If everything is up to current code as far as plumbing and electrical why would you need to make modifications? Also, I know exactly why you ask. There are systems out there that better allow for future work but truth of the matter is when the future remodel or modification comes there's going to be a way to do it or tear it all down and do it from scratch. The real problem comes when it's a slow leak pipe that just fills and soaks walls and studs before becoming evident.

    In my opinion.

Just wrapped up the tile today. Grout tomorrow and we'll be done. This room has been subfloor for two years now since we bought the house and began the renovation. Feels good to have flooring down.
