I pulled really hard on the step portion of the bumper during my install, heard a pop sound, and discovered this on the ground.

If you use a plastic bicycle tire lever you lift the edge up enough to put the shell on. I did it this way and it worked great. Hope this helps someone else.

I did something similar, slid it on from the side and used a plastic pry tool to raise up the lip of the step to slide the tabs and cover edge under.

Ummm. Not to encourage disappointment, but that’s not a close color match. I understand that 100% match may not be possible, but “color match” just by the nature of the words should mean pretty damn close. eCOOL....help this fella out.

Edit: by the way, I have the super white covers on my truck and am very happy with them. Just wanted to add my positive experience after above comment.

I’m sure @broteinshaker will come on but, this was thoroughly discussed and @eCOOL1 reached out to him to make sure he was happy. Read back through and you will see it. Dead horse brother.

The vendor has been very active and always comes on to make sure we are all happy.

That’s what happened to mine, broke one of those clips. I ended up using my interior plastic tools to just pry the lip of the other side and was able to get the cover on.

Yep, I saw that. Not criticizing the vendor who’s helped bring a good product forward. But, the color match wasn’t good in that case. Happy the customer was taken care of however. As I mentioned, I’m happy with the product and would recommend.

I left the red backing on, the tabs and clips keep it very secure. If it does somehow get loose I'll use the tape then.

I know this will piss off the OP, but I just Plasti-Dipped my rear caps without even removing them. Easy peasy and it cost me a $5 can and some tape. I cant believe what you guys are paying......

2 hard winters so far, and they still look fantastic.

Plastidip sucks. I use it when there is no other option. These covers are a better option. If you look earlier in this thread you will see that I plastidipped my fender flares to match the TPO bumper covers, and I would still but covers if they made them. I have plastidipped a lot of stuff on my last truck and my son's 4Runner, and it doesn't last.

I could have dipped them but they wouldnt match like this:
    536687E3-5C69-4FE4-852E-96741F7C33DD.jpg EC1E3D6D-5027-415A-BA37-DFDA9D13808D.jpg
    Pics borrowed from @TT005

Color and texture are a perfect and 303 protectant can be used to keep them looking good.

It looks factory without paying the price of factory parts.

I purchased mine before I even had my truck. Still have not installed them. Its too cold outside. But had a thought, Maybe put a little butyl dum dum in spots instead of the tape. This will hold it so they don't mar up the originals from slight movement. And would be much easier to remove without any damage.

I released those clips from underneath and pushed up to safely release them.

This is a vendor thread, and no one is asking for alternatives. This is not the place for alternative options.

I paid for them because that was the only thing I liked about the tech package and this was cheaper for a color matched option.

I can’t believe what you paid for 4x4, the SR with 4x4 is just as good. That’s the relevance of your argument. I also got an OR. Why, because I preferred it.

Has anyone with a TRD Sport covered their color-matched rear bumpers with these covers? I’ve got a BBP Sport with color-matched bumper already, but I like the look of the TPO black. I’ve got black fender flares and front chin that I plastdipped, so black bumper caps would complete the look in the rear. Just curious since seems like these bumper caps are getting most interest from OR and SR owners that want to cover the chrome.

Should be no different whether covering chrome or a painted cap, the fit will be the same so it shouldnt be a problem.

I would recommend installing without the tape if you ever decide to sell the truck and you want color match bumper ends to be a selling point.

Thanks man that’s helpful. Surprised that on this thread haven’t really seen anyone with a Sport planning to cover their color-matched bumper with the textured black. I think it would change up the look nicely and am considering it.
