    Hey all,

I realize there are about ten thousand and one threads about audio systems. I have come up relatively empty scouring the forums for an answer to my question. I still have the stock Entune premium sound system which I would like to retain but I did upgrade all six speakers to Kickers (courtesy of a popular forum post). My question is this, I need more bass. What is the cheapest and easiest way to install a sub and amp and keep the original HU? Order a box and 10inch Image Dynamics sub from *********? Get an (expensive) JL audio stealthbox? A self-powered sub and stuff it under the seat?

I'm willing to do it myself since I asked a local audio garage and they quoted me $1800 for parts/installation and tuning. There is another store in town that will install anything I bring them for ~$500. But if it is straightforward, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at it.

    Thanks for the help

I would be interested to know as well. I just ordered the kicker set with the subaru tweeters . The amp and sub will have to wait though. I just got my lift in an hour ago and if I can get it installed this weekend plan on getting tires monday. My wife is awesome. lol.

You definitely can’t go wrong with JL. Yeah it may be pricey, but it is quality and will sound amazing. If all you want to power is the sub you can always get a 1 channel amp. You could however get a 5 channel and power the woofers in the doors and the sub also. It’s really up to you. It’s a long term enjoyment so get something that will sound great and buy once cry once.

I went with the kicker Hideaway, it’s just enough bass to satisfy that desire. If I was 18 I would probably be disappointed, but at the old age of 30 I like not getting headaches from my music.

Thanks for the info. You saying the old age of 30 made me think. Lol. I googled bazooka bass tube. I didn't realize they still made 'em. I had one in my 1st gen. I like the look and idea of the kicker hideaway. May be my next purchase depending on how the new speakers sound.

I got a subwoofer box from eBay and 10” rockford fosgate shallow mount subwoofer. I used a hifonics amp that I had for my previous system. I also used a 2- channel line output converter so that I could keep the stock headunit.
Installation was very easy, the hardest part was removing the headunit.
I spend <300$ Including the amp.
    the sound is great! EC4FADFE-4584-4B47-8FBF-2EC7172C72A8.jpg

Was it hard to install the kicker Hideaway? Where did you put it?

I just ordered a kicker KXA800.5 amp and kicker comp rt 12” 2 ohm sub plus all the supporting wiring to get it all wired up. The last of the deliveries should be here Monday. I also have the CS kicker door upgrades and Subaru tweeters in the dash, but it just wasn’t quite enough. I’ll be using the Metra harnesses to keep all my factory wiring intact. Check out the audio/video section, lots of great info in there.

Edit: it looks like a lot of people are super happy with the kicker Key amp plus a hideaway too which will be a little less money than what I outlined above.

I installed the hideaway and just put it under my drivers seat.

Not hard at all, I secured it behind the passenger rear seat in the cubby. It’s small enough that I still have room for other stuff around it.

I have a Alpine ILX F309 Halo 9 and Type R speakers being installed soon. Just started planning the amps/sub/enclosure, would like to find good sub enclosures for my 2019 TRD Sport DC. Not sure if I am going one or two subs..

I've got a cheap underseat 8" powered sub, and it's adequate. Just adequate!

Wanting to put some subs in my TRD Sport and found some good looking boxes on SuperSound Crew website. After comparing provided measurements online, it looks like their boxes will hold any low-profile subs, but if you get the option for extended depth, you could fit a JL Audio 10W3v3, which is an awesome sub. I had one in a JL Stealthbox in my 2015 Access Cab with 500W powering it and the sound and bass was unreal considering it was one 10".

Anyone have any experience with SuperSound Crew? Their reviews are decent!

Most line out converters are just going to convert a crap signal in to a good amp and subs, thus limiting your low end response to that of the entune deck. The entune system was the first thing to go when I bought my truck. There is several specialty digital converters that with some success have cleaned up the low end response but are pricey up front. See taco tunes as an example. For me, the sony head unit wired with my phone gives me everything and more that what the entune system had. The sub system in the back rocks my taco to my brides desire! 20190202_101014.jpg 20190202_100811.jpg

Some sweet set ups here. I think a self enclosed system is appealing at this point because I need to keep the child seat anchor behind the rear seats...

Is that the SuperCrew Sound box? That's the set up I want for mine. Looks great!
