A little brighter than I recall (but I am drinking straight). Equal balance of vanilla and caramel. I'm sure there are other flavors/notes but since i'm on the downhill side of the half-century mark, I don't taste as well as I used to. A touch of pepper on the finish. If I recall correctly, the Herradura has a bit more pepper to it, which I really like.

I just finished my first bottle of Dickle rye. It was pretty good and worth the $. I actually put the last few ounces in an empty Blanton's bottle, along with the last few ounces from my Angels Envy rye. It's the beginning of my Infinity bottle.

Yeah this is the first bottle of dickel I’ve ever got. Quite good for the price.

Yeah I think many people have ruined their taste for tequila by over indulging in a bottle of Cuervo in their adolescent years. Some of my current favorites are Don Julio Repo, 1942 and Jose Cuervo Familia.

I've been in the right place at the right time to try some outstanding scotch, but I've never been THAT fortunate. Wow. Can't say for sure if it would be really good or not, but it has to be very unique. That many years in the barrel has to bring something to the scotch that you just can't get in the sub-20 year range.

Did some shopping yesterday and picked up these.

The Barrell Bourbon is batch #017 and is for a buddy. The Wellers are spoken for, too (@TRD-ED :anonymous:). The Dickel is a 9 year barrel select that I gifted to my dad. He is a big fan of the younger Dickel barrel select (and it is great for $35), but I couldn't find him a bottle for Christmas. To make amends, I got him the next step up. It's $55, though. We'll see tonight if it's worth the premium. The Seagram's was for us all to have 7/7s last night to drink to my grandfather who passed away yesterday morning. That was a staple drink for him.

The one that I get to keep on my shelf is the High West Double Rye limited edition. It is a barrel select that is finished with 7 months of aging in ex-gin barrels. I've had gin aged in bourbon barrels, but never a whiskey aged in gin barrels. It'll be unique, that's for sure. Even if the whiskey sucks, that pearlescent bottle sure is sexy :D.

Double Rye! is my favorite whiskey for the money, I heard about the special release but haven’t seen it locally. Interested in seeing what you think

So I've read and heard about Blanton's a lot but hadn't seen it in the wild until a week or so ago. Passed on a bottle because I wasn't ready to spring $63 for it. Saw another today and said fuck it ($60).

Blanton's is my answer for this thread, it is just that good. I'm not a whiskey expert by any means but holy smokes it blew my mind

I've only been into Bourbons for 6 months or so. I felt the same the same way after buying my 1st bottle of Blanton's. Now go get a bottle of Booker's if you can find it and try it. You'll be mind blown again. If you can't find Booker's try Knob Creek Barrel Proof or Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Both will :boom:There're others but they are hard to find and $$$.

Blantons is very good and $60 is a great price. Would buy every bottle they have for that price. Good score!

Am finishing a bottle of TX blended whiskey. Someone on here recommend it so had to try. It's good but not one that I liked neat. However, it is VERY good with just a little splash of ginger ale. I'll pick up another bottle.

Not putting anyone off. And everyone has their opinion. But to me. If it's not good neat, it's not good period.

Waiting to hear your thoughts on the gin barrel aged double rye @bvbull200, sounds kinda strange to me but could turn out awesome. I could imagine the spice from rye mixing well with residual juniper. Definitely an interesting concept.
