Ok so yesterday I had a new set of 285/75r16 falken wildpeaks installed along with alignment. Drove fine on the way home. Got up this morning and the first right hand curve I took the drivers side break damn near locked up and put me in the ditch. Don it several more times throughout the day.

So my first action was to jump on here and see wtf was going on. I found a thread telling how to reset or recalibrate the vsc computer. Done. Everything went the way the thread said it was supposed to work.

Jumped in and took it down the road. Same curve that made me just about shit my pants this morning. Got me again. Came home and repeated the vsc reset and the same thing happened again. I’m lost and starting to loose faith in this little truck. Anyone know of anything else to do or try. This is just about ridiculous. Thanks.

Don’t blame the truck, you changed it from stock and the computer is just doing the job it was programmed to do to keep the occupants safe.

Is this the recalibration procedure you used? https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ibrate-your-vsc-computer-the-easy-way.467485/

Yes that’s the one I used. Didn’t really change anything about it. Bought it about a month ago with the same size tires on it. Just really don’t see where the alignment could do that much to it. I’m just kinda lost

I stepped up to 285x70x17 and had it recalibrated at the dealer. No problems now.

I just drive it slower. Has done it twice since installing them pizza cutters in the past 2 years. Once going up to Big Bear, I just about crapped my pants. Nothing else to add. Good luck OP

I’m not a speed demon. 65 to 70 is max speed I ever go and that’s on the freeway. I’m probably the most passed person in north west Georgia. Lol. My road that it does it on the most is one that I may get to 30 mph on.

same issue im having 265/75/16 bilstein 6112/5160 1.5" lift. re-calibration didnt work

doesnt have any impact on high speed turns, just lower speed 25 to 35 90 degree about +7 mph depending on turn, off camber seems to make it more touchy. Its slowed me down quite a bit. I have quite a bit of track driving experience so i've just adjusted my driving accordingly. Still annoying though, especially when some yahoo gets on me through a set of turn and i know the tacoma is capable of more but cant do it with the stability control acting up

Some people are installing a abs/vsc kill switch and it will never happen when the switch is engaged. It will light the dash up like a Xmas tree but it beats the truck trying to kill you!

DirtTaco id just about be willing to do anything. I just don’t see why in the world you would have to drive one of these trucks around at 10mph for the fix. Like I said before I’m not a speed demon but I’m not 90 years old yet either. Does the recalibrate work better from the dealership or do they do the same thing as the fix on TW.

The alignment is key to the vsc working properly. Get it done right, something is is over extending the rack and pinion.

JaCado. Before the alignment my tires looked like they were angled from the front. Kinda like this \ /. I never had the problem until the alignment. Makes sense.

Inner or outer tie rods are maxed or close to it on one side in bet. Go look at the threads showing on each side.

Oh I know about Georgia roads. I’d believe it, it doesn’t take much. Like people said, see if you can get a better alignment. Sometimes what helps keep it straight makes it trigger the VSC.

Passenger side looks close to maxed out.
Those outer CV boots look like the fins are rubbing. You'll be replacing boots and axels soon if that's not corrected also.

At the top?? The way the truck sits now it’s got a 2 1/2 inch lift on the front. These Tacoma’s are new to me but don’t seem worth it.

Yeah at the top closest to the wheel. Take a few threads of preload of them front coils if you can. Or may need a diff drop. Most dont need them, but yours is looking like a good canidate.

Would the diff drop possible help with the vsc issue.
