Oh, I didn't have to work in it, just go get tools from the garage. I had to be plumber again, and I hate being one, but all I ended up needing to do was tighten some fittings on really new valves (that shouldn't have been dripping).

Yeah, the drizzle is why I put off the pond filters (again), should be nicer tomorrow. I will mind less spraying them in sunshine!

this house was built cheap in the 70's, so I have never "repaired" any plumbing, because it is all obsolete. Problem for me is, some of my replacements are obsolete! And it is hard to buy anything small not made cheap in China.

You can try and find a plumbing supply house and ask for domestic. It’s hard. We need to bring back production here :oldglory:

Agreed, we farm way too much out of the states. Everyone just trying to make a quick buck instead of being proud of what we make.

I used to "try" to do that with the oldest stuff. I got tired of getting treated like crap by the supply house guys, because I was neither a plumber nor a contractor. Sometimes, they would actually look around for something I could use, but not often. There was one place in North Central Austin, that had a real old guy (I was younger) who recognized junk from the 70's, and would go dig up stuff so I could get by. "here's three things for you that can replace that one thing you brought in". I've paid to have a real plumber come in and make major use pipes at least either threaded so I can repair, or converted to PVC so I can work with that. But, like all our bath is still raw copper line (barely) out of the wall (or not), and I have to use compression fittings to bring it out. At least the faucets were modernized 20 years ago (we've been here since 85!). And the kitchen Delta is only about a decade old. Anyway, nothing compared to the stuff you have to work on!

We've had soft water in the house within months of moving in, so I don't have those problems inside. And I even have one spigot that comes out the front with soft water, which is great for car wash when it's detail time!
Well, maybe next time she wants a new faucet. It has a pull out faucet, and a single lever she likes. It's not THAT bad, because all I have to do is the shutoffs below (that were dripping today - at least I can turn them off nowadays - could not when I moved in.), and remove the little temp dot, and one screw. So the , and the body pull out. I have the last one in the garage, and I might just clean it up if I can with some vinegar.
Or I will drive down with some beer, and you can take me to a house that will sell me the better stuff!
