Factory bolts for those are usually considered a 1time use with a bolt that allows some stretch which creates its own friction to hold it in place, and since the way they mount together doesn’t need any give in a hardened bolt like a grade 8 should be fine

Any of you local guys know of a steel yard that's open today?

Every one I've looked up so far is closed on weekends.

Just an FYI about transmission filters on our autoboxes; they don’t need to be “replaced”, just cleaned. Our slushomatics have a metal mesh filter screen that only needs to be cleaned and refitted.

I would definitely consider just cleaning the filter under normal circumstances, but this being a salvage yard trans and I don't know the history or maintenance, I'm going to replace with a Wix filter for piece of mind.

Umm, I don’t follow the logic.

It doesn’t matter where the trans came from.

    1. Remove filter from valve body via unbolting it.

    2. Disassemble filter body.

    3. Clean filter components thoroughly, very thoroughly. “I can refer you to a doctor, he’s thorough. Very thorough.”

    4. Reassemble filter body.

    5. Reattach filter assembly to valve body via bolts.

But, since you have already replace the assembly with a Wix filter(they make robust filters), please keep and clean your factory one when you need to replace the Wix unit. This way you are covered, should anything negative happen to your Wix unit(like cavitation).

Already planning on that... I listen to you when you talk about things. I filed that away last time we were talking about winches.

The ask was going to be... I don't have any experience with choosing winch line. Don't know brands, qualities, etc.

I'm not wanting to "cheap out" on winch line, but I also am hoping not to spend $300 on 50 ft of it lol.

I have the same question. I’d like to replace my steel wire with synthetic but I can’t tell what’s any good.

I don’t know a whole lot about winch lines,
I do know that they have some that have a sheath and I don’t believe those can be spliced
My next winch line I plan to find an Amazon one with the best reviews
If I had money I would probably get a warn or bubba rope line but that’s out of my price range currently

The bottom is an example of the sheathing
