I worked city for 6 years while working here too. Best day ever when they let all the part timers go. Last 3 years of it was when EMS/Fire combined. Went to shit after that. We’d have to call for shot down there. Up here we just work on protocol and don’t have to call for anything. I wish they’d let us transport straight to ct, surgery and catch lab though.

Gotcha. There’s no volunteer EMS anywhere down here, we’re all paid. Here all the fire is volunteer in the county. We also do all our own extrication.

 

Lol. I never called for orders when I worked EMS. I was 3-12 hours away from a hospital and "the sat phone was down."

When we had to call for orders it was amazing how they wouldn’t answer the radio after calling x3. But when you said negative contact with Med control establishing (whatever protocol) they would answer quick then. Bastards.

Best thing was when our medical director said why don’t I just make all your protocols standing orders and you won’t have to call anymore. No more getting Dr. signatures and just need the nurses signature for handing them off. Now if we could just go back to the PCR’s of the mid-late 90’s that you could do in 5 minutes. Haha that would be great.

Well, in the old days they'd just tote a ass whooping and you'd get your product. But that seems offensive these days and society has made it ok to just take someone's hard earned money and not pay any repercussions for it. I mean look at them from this. Moved and probably about to start again with another group.

 

Your right days of a hand shake and your word meant something are over.

 

There's still some of them out there. Just far and few between.
