I got my dual battery system working again today. I was going to move one battery over to the passenger side but found out that these batteries are too tall to mount over there without hitting the hood. Didn’t want to spend a few hundred on a new shorter battery so I just went back to the original setup. I think I’ll mount my ARB air compressor where I was going to put the battery, and put my shower pump back in as well.

Installed new Denso ignition coils and OEM wires today. Pretty sure my ignition coils were original with 227,000 miles on them. The engine seems to be running much smoother after swapping to the new coils. Now to replace that leaky PCV valve...

    Bro,
I thought I was following your thread. Damn, I have a lot of catching up to do - don't mind the questions that I'm sure I'm going to have.

PS - you going to KOH next week?

Looks like maybe you should have done the hose too.

Did you get your running issues resolved finally?

I think I’m just going to replace all my vacuum lines soon.

I did get the running issues resolved. Ended up just being a loose ground wire due to the bolt holding it on being stripped. Explaines the intermittent issues I was having.

Which ground wire was it? Off the battery? Frame to engine, firewall to engine?

It was the firewall to engine.

Added a negative battery to body ground just to be safe as well.

How does the 4:56 gearing work for you? I was hoping it would kick the RPM up enough to not lug in OD under 60 mph....

I don’t know if you know what I’m referring to but if I’m in OD at about 50-55 and hit a hill it sounds like it’s lugging or something unless I get it to downshift. It’s not ping, I’m familiar with that too...

I can't think of what you're talking about off the top of my head, but the 4:56 gears are great. To be specific, they were perfect when I had 33's and just my 50lb tube bumper. Once I started adding more armor the truck started feeling like it needed 4:88's. Luckily the supercharger is now providing plenty of power so I no longer have any issues getting my heavy ass up a hill. It looks like you're running a similar SC setup to mine and have less weight, so you should be perfectly fine with 4:56 gears.

The best I can describe it is if I’m in OD and below 2k rpm which is below 50 and below and try to accelerate up a hill in OD it just doesn’t sound right.

Also, I thought it might help off the line moving the heavy ass tires as well.

My 2 cents. If you’re auto go 488s no questions asked

I ran 488s and wish I had done it sooner

Not that I'm thinking about switching anytime soon, but how were your RPM's on the highway with 4:88's? I tend to drive pretty fast on road trips, so keeping the rpms down is important. I always thought 4:88's would have my RPM's up too high.

They were about 2700 at 70-72

I mainly did it so my trans wouldn’t keep unlocking and building heat in a small headwind or hill etc. With all the weight I was running the 488s were definitely the choice for me
