I run bootcamp for work, have some software that is needed on windows but I usually re-image the computer about once a year so my fear is that would cause me to loose the registry based keys.

So, in an attempt to be efficient with my time today and after reading above, I figured I would disconnect the negative lead to my battery and let it sit in the parking lot while I went into the store. I didn't do this measure when I first downloaded the 1.05 tune about 600 miles ago.

Dummy me found out that once the battery is disconnected you can't lock the doors with the fob.

No problem says I, that's why they give you this key so cleverly disguised in the fob !

Nay, Nay.... The key didn't work as a manual key in the lock as suspected !
I couldn't lock the doors with the key while the battery was disconnected !
Does this lead one to deduce that if your battery dies while parked and locked you can't get in with the key ??

That thought didn't cross my mind until I was hooked back up and headed down the road....
10 minutes easily passed while I went through these mental gyrations.... But,
Now I gotta take it apart again to test the theory... Anyone here futzed with this ?

Prologue: My truck has been running pretty good on 1.05 / 87 and I'm in warm country.
Although I still of course want more, I have no complaints.

Can't say for certain if the disconnect thing did anything for me, although driving the truck to the store prior to disconnect it said 18.4 (avg tank mpg) and on the way home after re-connect it said 22.6 (avg tank mpg) !

Jeesh.... I dunno ? Feels good anyway ~~~

I use ASUS E203M 32 GB SSD. Picked it up for $100 + change. Adequate and fits in to the glove compartment (tight) and into the back packet of the passanger's seat.

If you disconnect both battery cables and hold together for 30 seconds it will drain all residual stored power from all electrical components. Then just reconnect and go. Takes 2 mins or less.

Mat, looks like we can most of these using OBDII while we wait for the logger release. However, some of the PID you list seem to have a different naming convention within the OBDII Toyota PID set. Also, what logging trigger (PIDf frame /GPS frame / sample time) should we select?

Toyota names them in a confusing way like "vvt change angle degreeFR"
Like any normal person will know what that represents..

He did mentioned this on the first post:
Estimated HP Gains on 87 Octane with 6900 RPM Rev limited: 24-28 Horsepower (peak) no measure-able torque gains.

Yep, but that power comes from moving the limiter. Not actual gains over stock, just higher peak. Like the camry. Producing better than stock power on 87 is very difficult and not worthy of the fine margin between safe ignition and detonation limits.

As long as it isn't all the time, Mat said you can email for new registry keys.

@OVTune ?'s on the shift lock first post info .
    How does it work?
To enable gear lock - Press "ECT" Button While in S mode
    Modifications made:
While in S mode Gear lock can lock 1 - 6, (for safety reasons, the truck will automatically downshift at rpms under 1500)

There is a safety limiter set in place if the truck is held at 100% throttle for an excessive amount of time.

ECT "D" mode is now functional (shifting is still modified in ECT "D" but it is completely drive-able in ECT "D" now).

S mode non ECT performs like stock S Mode
D mode non ECT performs like stock D mode
    (in terms of shifting)

I see that one shifts to S mode then presses ECT. the gear lock starts working .
Once it is working in S mode with ECT on , what happens when shifting to D without touching the ECT button ? then shifting back to S mode again and such with or without touching the ECT button ? I hope you can see where I am thinking about the possible outcomes .
One more ? , is the 6900 RPM mode for the AT also ?
    thanks .

If you switch to "D" and ECT is still on, the truck will drive with ECT style upshifting normally. Technically even in D you can lock out downshifts, but it will still upshift and drive normally (and 5/6th D will still go down to 4th).

6900 rpm AT is an option yes. I can even set 6900 in ECT Lock only, etc.

Also regarding "legacy" shift, this is something I've worked on that can be used ONLY on base model 2wd trucks.

still more to wonder about . such as activating gear lock in s-mode with ect , shifting to D mode , then back to S-mode , all without touching the ect button . When does deactivating /reactivating the ect. button come into play after the initial activation of gear lock ?
