So eventually I plan on changing out the speakers and also I guess the head unit sounds apparently that's necessary to get Hi-Fi sound. Something about the stock head unit being designed for the crappy stock speakers.

I haven't looked at radios in a long time but every single one of I see just looks like some crappy ricer radio... Generally just plain black and blue lights.

I sadly might be the odd one out.. but I would like to find something that's all metal similar to old vintage stereo equipment. (Back when shit was made good hot damn)
I've looked around a bit but I'm not really sure if how I'm searching for it is the right way to...

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Basically I either want something vintage style or something that matches the truck as closely as possible...not ricer style haha

    Here's mine:

    Pioneer AVIC 5100 Nex.

Not sure about finding a vintage style, but I think this blends with the trucks interior pretty well.

I appreciate all the posts but I was hoping to stay away from big giant screens and stuff. Not really a fan of modern stuff haha

Well it still has that generic modern look, to me that is. No offense though! I appreciate the help.

Why don't you leave the stock head unit in and just replace the speakers and put an amp in between? That would give you better sound and the look wouldn't be altered by "ricer style".

Wish someone made something with the old style VU power meters.

    Man that IS cool!

That sounds much easier, would this solve the issue of the head unit hindering better speakers? I've already got a portable DAC to direct feed so if I can just change the amp and avoid issues from the stock head that would rock!

    Dude that would be amazing.

I don't think I said that, I mean don't get me wrong I will pay for quality... but $1500 for a vehicle radio? I could buy an actual receiver for that kind of cash haha.

So I did find a crazy cool one, but it seems to have limited info and is pricey. No idea if it is just cool or actually has the guts to back up its' coolness.

Those are SICK! There's a couple different models, both cool. I seem to remember there's something about particular models won't pick up U.S. radio stations due to being made for the Japanese market.

You know it is a shame that everything is just plastic now... the old stuff I have from the 60s and 70s is nice as well. Solid metal fronts, levers and switches. So satisfying.
