Hey man - I took your advice a while ago and bought one of these computers for the eventual purchase of this tune . Happy to say that I just installed it after working for a solid year on my truck this was a great addition. The computer worked fine and the OV tune is amazing so far. Takes the bog out of the fuel pedal and moves the power back down the RPM range. Nice work on the tune Matt, I am day 2 with the 87 and really like it. Thank you for that, you have put in a ton of work and research dedicated to this truck and are an inspiration to all of us. Cheers yall

Here is what I don’t get...1915 pages of comments. This forum wouldn’t even exist if Toyota would just do it right the first time. I hate the lag of takeoff in 1st, I hate having to downshift going up a hill at 7000 ft into second or even first. Do I really want to buy OV when it seems it has as many issues. We should even be dealing with this issue to begin with. PERIOD

Glad it worked out for you. I'm not a fan of Lenovo consumer hardware, but their business laptops are top notch. I just got a brand new T480 for work and it's been great so far.

Happy to hear that you are enjoying the tune. It sounds like it has accomplished for you exactly what most of us wanted it for in the first place!

No, we shouldn't, but we all bought the truck and want a workable solution. That solution is this tune. The "issues" you see are called development and the immediate response by the developer (Mat) is normally unheard of. This is the first tune available for the Tacoma and was developed by Mat, with the help of all the fine folks right here. There are some minor "issues" with *SOME* trucks. Read the forums for a bit and you will get an idea of how picky these trucks are and how much variation in behavior there is from one truck to another.

If you hate your truck that much and don't want to spend ~$800 on the tune, you are welcome to go trade it in.

6900rpm in ECT only sounds like a great combo. Basically two tunes you can run simultaneously

When we first entered the market, we weren't doing it to try to solve the numerous bugs and inconsistencies in the stock ecus code. We were working on tuning the camry when someone asked us to see if we can make more power out of the tacoma. Over time it evolved from a tune of making power to a tune dedicated to making this truck as best as possible. Fixing the transmission, fixing the limitations in the stock ecu that does not let you go full throttle, issues with misfires, stuttering, etc.

The overzealous complexity of the stock logic, paired with the absolute maddening levels of assembly level inconsistencies and redundancy in the ecu means that if we did our remain a tune setup to make more power we'd leave 90 percent of the potential untouched.

Luckily, the way the ecu calculates stuff in the line by line instructions (move byte, jump and register, nop, cmp...) allows us to exploit anything we wish. Only issue with that is testing takes time.
The further we dig, the more we can do.

Out of curiosity, are you looking at basic assembly code with these ECUs?

Yeah it’s all assembly he has to try and decipher. It’s buried in here somewhere.

SOLD pending payment...thanks for all the effort @OVTune, you are the reason I didntd get rid if it in the first 6 months ...you have MASSIVELY improved this platform, but I finally accepted I was one of those who would just never be happy with this drivetrain in a truck.

Good luck to the rest of you and I hope Matt can continue to improve on the tune...it sure won't be for a lack of trying.

No worries, the Tundra is a great truck, and great platform. We have another truck we are gearing up to start R&D on this year... too. Not the Tundra though, I'm waiting to see what Toyota unveils in 2020.

    Nothing new on it yet.

One thing I can say is I don't recommend it for people who stay on stock intake, since it doesn't fit.
Anyways a lot of orders and tickets to get to.
