    No no. When I have the time, I prefer to fill me fluids with a teaspon, and keep tracvk of how many it takes to fill the different cases. :p

    Shite! Just call me "Tim the tool man". I have 60K and have not replaced the fluids yet. What is 36 foot pounds when I am using a 24mm socket?

    I drive a '06, regular cab. What are benefits to using synthetic vs regular 75-90 weight oil?

    This is for the rear only. THe others are the same drain and fill.


    36 ft-lbs is still, 36 ft-lbs, regardless of what socket you use, Tim. Synthetic oils dont break down as fast, and you can extend the change interval.

    ... can only find it as a synthetic. My 07 taco calls for
    $28 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 for the front diff and transfer case. The local dealership did have 80W-90 dino oil for the rear diff, and so I followed Chris's advice with that one. I don't have the LSD, so no additive required.

    Can I use the 80W-90 dino in my front diff and transfer case (Alberta Canada winters)? Or should I just go ahead and use the 75W-90 synthetic?

    No. Only the TRD Sports with LSD from 2005 - 2008 need the additive. That's for the 2nd gen trucks. I'm not sure about the 1st gen.

    Your diff requires the friction modifier if it has a LSD sticker on it. Take a look at the one on the first page of this thread to see the location of the sticker.
