So I was rear ended a couple days ago by a guy in a small Mazda car. No visible damage to my truck as he hit me square on the hitch receiver (I did not have a hitch inserted) I was at a complete stop and he failed to stop on the ice and slid into me at what seemed to be a fairly low speed. He has a perfect imprint of my receiver on his bumper and no other obvious damage. Should I be concerned about my frame? Is it worth making a claim and getting it checked out?

If it were me, I’d have it checked out.

I wouldn’t be worried if it was just a tap, especially if this happened on ice and there was some give.

Always get it checked out after a accident, but I doubt your truck is damaged or isnt drivable. You are more than likely fine but the next one may not be. Good luck.

Me? I'd probably move on and never give it another thought. Anyone else I'd suggest a qualified frame shop to give it a quick look over. These guys can spot out of true frame issues with the naked eye. Maybe buy the frame tech a lunch Subway card to give you ten minutes of his time.

To the at fault insurer send a copy of your fee schedule along with an affidavit of truth and invoice for your time.

In the old days you could take a few good hits in the rear bumper and never have anything more than a scratch...
In highschool I was rear ended on 3 different occasions in my 92 blazer. One of them was a pretty good smack... but did no damage to my rig. The poor girl that ran into me on this occasion was crying like mad immediately out of embarrassment. Calmed her down and told her not to worry about it, just pay attention and be safe. I got her number and dated her for a short while.

Was a good outcome to a car accident if there ever was one

Lol. So she rear ended you....

    And you rear ended her!

    Definitely a good outcome.

Op: get it checked out. You don’t want to have a problem and then try to make a claim later. Their insurance will fight it saying it could of happened at some over time and then you may have to claim it on your own insurance.
