Not hard to believe at all. Electric motors generate instant torque. No spool up time. No pistons.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
...^^^... About 2 years ago, I rode in a Tesla P100D (in Ludicrous mode) and that thing had specs of 0-60 in 2.23 seconds IIRC ... it was neck snapping fast on a small hill just outside of my subdivision.

She pointed the car uphill, told me to put my head against the headrest ... and then hit it and it was like taking off in a rocket ship .

That Tesla P100D was a very big and heavy car too.

I would not doubt that this truck could do 0-60 in 3 seconds.

It can tow 11,000+ lbs, Has 10,000+ ft-lbs torque, Has 800 Hp all that is available at press of an accelerator. $70k-90k sounds reasonable, considering ppl are paying that for HD Diesel trucks.

300-400 mile range is competitive. Hopefully they will offer battery swap at charging stations, if u dont have to charge.

The upcoming Tesla roadster will do 0-60 in 1.8 seconds. Unreal.

I rode in my friends model 3 (the cheap tesla) he smokes 911s in it.

I'm not saying it's not capable, but I'm curious what it would end up costing for a midsize truck.

We are still a while out...I'm curious how it will pan out after a few years. I don't want to be the guinea pig.

That article was clickbait, aint happening. We've already seen a teaser of the front end and it's pretty much identical to 2019 with minor updates to headlights, grill and I'm guessing bumper or something.

I don't like that tall and skinny look of those trucks at all.

Batteries weigh just at 300lb in gas/elecric hybrid cars and the 85kwh in the Tesla 3 weighs 1200lbs, so I wonder what this one weighs?

Still would be interested in it!

I was pleased at the negotiating on Tacomas - had a friend that bought one 2 years ago and only got 500 off dealer sticker. I purchased (3 weeks ago) a double cab, off road (Calvary Blue) - sticker was 38600, I paid 34500 (out the door) - they were offering low rate financing but I paid cash (actually wrote a check) I don't believe in financing (except for houses/land). I don't think I got a great deal, but I was pleased (I was out of the dealership within an hour of pulling in). I will say the Tacoma must not have the markup that others have ...I purchased a GMC Hightop Conversion (Explorer) Van for my wife 2 years ago - the sticker was a little over 70K and I got around 10K off that.

Yep, Toyota is a little different. In most cases dealers aren't going to make over $2k on a new Taco if you do a bit of negotiating, money comes in when they finance, sell you extended warranties, dealer add-ons, etc., and often in those cases you can negotiate the truck down to close to invoice depending on your location. 34500 for a offroad (assuming it's 4x4) is a great deal. If 2wd, not as great of a deal but still not a bad price. I paid 34500 for my 17' OR in 2016 + TTL which brought it up to around 38.

Not my favorite styling, but the Tacoma has to get a little bit more aerodynamic - not Ridgeline aerodynamic, but still. I'm on windshield #4 in 2 years. Anytime it's happened it's been from random debris that was so tiny I haven't ever seen what caused it. Just hear a pop while on the highway and watch the cracks appear.

I've been driving for 22 years, and the 20 years before I bought the Taco I had to replace 1 windshield (outside of a wreck). Nothing has changed about my driving habits or locations...

The blocky, aggressive edges on this truck make it look awesome. but, there is a happy medium between soccer-mom van and our trucks.

There are time when I feel really old - this is one of those times. We have 5 cars - all but one have cameras (my old 2005 tahoe does not)...3 weeks ago I bought a double cab off road tacoma...I know it has a camera but I just do not see a point honestly. I still use the mirrors and turning my head...my kids and wife think I'm crazy - maybe so but I just do not see the need. Heck we own a horse farm (on a river) and I'm constantly backing up around stuff (including horses) and parking by the river - and I don't ever look at the back up camera. NOT putting anyone down - just shocked at how big a deal back up cameras are.
