Just a little tip if you're doing a coolant drain and fill. A 22 mm socket will easily grip the drain-cock on the radiator. Otherwise it can be tough to get a grip on it with your hand or pliers.

Be mindful when tightening it though. Doesn't require much torque at all.

 

How about DIY puddle lights. A few options out there.

 

Hey y’all, This is a truck I'm considering buying I would like some sincere reviews about it and tell me what should I expect in terms of performance or unexpected things that I don't know. I don't want there to be any surprises and I would appreciate any insight that you can give particularly if you have a similar setup. If some of your curious I'll be paying just a little over 10,000 for the sweet ride and there's nothing mechanically wrong with it. Thanks in advance for your help, I will let you know how it goes.

Me personally I would say no...your buying someone elses lifted up 2wd that you dont know the history of. Did they beat on it and sink it, looks like it needs tires, just stuff like that. If you only want a 2wd theres a bunch out there and then you can do your own lift and tires etc and know more of the history on it. JMO

 

8" of lift means its sitting on blocks. Probably rides horribly. From my understanding, anything more than a suspension lift (3") is problematic on the Taco. You will more than likely experience a lot of drive line issues, ball joints, cv axles. You can only change the geometry so much before parts start wearing out really fast.

I have had several Tacomas over the years but my new to me 2015 SR5 4x4 access cab has one flaw that really bugs me. The Weather Channel temperature reading does not help me at all when I just want to know the temp where I actually am right now, not from some satellite telling me the temp from somewhere 50 miles away. Is there any fix for this?

 

me too..if ya ever want to do it heres the steps

1. open box remove bag
2.open bag remove bottle
3.open bottle remove contents
4. install on shifter


now ya may want to reverse 3 & 4

im redoing it now will post the new one when its done

Not too many CVs on a 2WD

 

For those you who have not visited the how-to thread for the 2nd gen transmission drain and fill...here's a tip. I didn't come up with this idea. But I did copy it and am passing it foward .

Buy a male OBDII connector. I picked one up on Amazon for $6.50.

Permanently jump pins #4 and #13. Now you have a simple plug and play option when setting the rig into temp check mode for transmission fluid work. No more horsing around with trying to insert a wire.

I've used it 3 times so far. Works perfectly.

Marked the pins with a green Sharpie.



Created a jumper wire. I insulated it with shrink wrap.





Finished product.

What type of wire connectors did you use for the pins? I made one of those also but your wire connectors look much more secure.

 

I have a box of nothing but terminals and such....stuff that I've accumulated for years. I can say for sure...but I think they were the male ends of a male/female connection that could be unplugged if need be.

 

8" of lift is a lot of leverage and off axis on steering, suspension, & driveline. Wide tires don't help.

 

Looks like 1/8" spade.

Anyone else's factory Toyota key easily removable from ignition while truck is on?

 

My 1998 Pontiac Grand Am was like that. Never had any other issues with it. but was nice if i wanted to run back in the house in the winter to get something and leave the car running.
