Installed my Road Shower 4 this past weekend. Stoked on the placement and how easy it is to use. I had it on the roof prior, but it would clank around all the time because of the water inside / I couldn't fit in parking structures. So this is the new spot

That looks like a nice set-up. I might have to look into that.

with it mostly covered now it will obviously slow down the time it will take the sun to heat up the water considerably.

Actually I had already tested it out a few weeks back and there isn't much difference since its pretty much all exposed. I thought the same at first

What brackets did you use to mount it under like that? I just picked one up and am looking for ideas on how to mount it under my rtt on my cab height bed rack.

Is the fill cap completely covered up or would you be able to refill with a jug with a rubber hose attached if you run out of water and need to refill out on a trail?

I've thought about getting one of those but have hesitated because I've read some stuff about the sloshing water causing some weird issues whilst driving, or making emergency maneuvers.

Also, I know its called the road "shower" but if you fill it with potable water, does it stay potable? (not all pvc is created equal and if you use the wrong stuff you can grow some nasty shit)

There's no way I'd even consider it without a little bleach or purification tabs. You do that and I'm sure it'll stay good enough for a while.

Hell, I'd be doing bleach even on short uses just to keep the funk out.

I know rite? This is why Im asking though cuz I'd like to figure out a solution to mass water storage whilst making it easily accessible. Water treatment is an entire industry I do suppose.

Its aluminum so no PVC related issues to worry about. (Edit: Not that you can't get bad water in an aluminum tank too but the other PVC leaching issues are not present at least.)
It isn't really meant for drinking but more for showers and cleaning. I'm sure it would be fine for drinking for a few days if you like drinking hot water but that's not its main purpose.

What’s the height of your RCI bed rack?

Also, any issues filling the road shower with water? I believe the cap is under the RTT towards the rear window

too much weight, those bed rails arent made for that kind of setup. I consider them light duty tie down points.

Wish I could find a set of these underslung mounts, though it does make me wonder about where that thing might end up if you rear ended someone at speed.

I'm not selling my mounts but I recently bought a used 10 gallon Road Shower and it came with those mounts. Previous owner had it mounted on an off road trailer and the brackets are actually bent some from a couple years of bouncing around. They aren't bent enough where I am worried about it but I thought it was worth mentioning. May only be an issue for the 10 gallon set up. I'm sure a local metal shop would be able to make them for you. I can take some measurements of the bracket if you're interested.
