Thanks. Do you get much condensation on the hard sided interior panel? I could always carpet it if need be.

 

I've never gotten condensation on the lower camper portion. I've had occasional condensation on a small part of the the ceiling toward the hinge. But then again, I haven't done any snow camping in it yet. I've gone as low as 14°F and was definitely using the Mr. Buddy Heater.

No problem. Oh and for anyone in colder climates the struts basically stop working at -20 and become Difficult to open.

Still waiting on my darn diesel heater, 1 month and counting.

 

Yea I'm waiting on my diesel heater too. Pretty sure it'll get delayed with Chinese New Year going on.

And DAMN that's cold. I would never camp in that weather, at least not intentionally.

 

Yea 5000W, which is probably overkill since it translates to 17K BTUs compared to my Buddy Heater at 4-9k BTUs. That just means less gas consumption which is ideal because I want to be able to fill up the small diesel tank once before I leave on a trip and hopefully not need to refill it. I don't plan on bringing spare diesel fuel on trips.

 

Nice. I got the unit with the encasing and it'll fit in one of my cabinet openings (no face). Hopefully I get to use it before it starts getting too hot lol

 

Just be aware that with the bigger diesel heater, they will burn on low longer and produce more soot in the combustion chamber. It will need to be cleaned out more often. Also, remember when using them that at the end of the burn cycle/use, to run them on high for about 15 mins to help burn off the soot in the combustion chamber. IT is the number one cause/failure on a lot of these diesel heaters. They are easy to maintain, just something to be aware of.

she is my portable heating unit. Was -15 or so on e couple of the nights, she just crawled right into the sleeping bag down to my legs, kicked and flipped around until she got comfy then passed out. It was burning hot in there. Cold in the tent though. This morning we went out to pee and she was like wtf, screeched and yelped afterwards jumping from paw to paw. She was having none of this cold weather.

Which means nice long walks in the parking garage for the next week or so. yeah

 

My dog has to have little boots put on at about -20 or he won’t get past the front steps before peeing and then hopping back to the door.

 

ine will go out regardless, this was/is the coldest weather she has been in. no takin a dog out in this for extended periods. she doesn't seem to mind though she's passed right out on the floor.

 

Uh, it's 25F (-4C) in Seattle and it's a SNOW DAY (UW and schools are closed). That's what a few inches of snow melting into a sheet of ice will do here. You can mock us (those of us who grew up in snow climates often do), but given no one in Seattle seems to remember or know how to drive in Seattle in this type of weather, it is probably the best plan. Mikey the Boston Terrier wants absolutely nothing to do with any of it. Kahti the Boxer is ready for it....for about 15 minutes.

 

Not an issue w/ Kerosene.

 

So just fill it with Kerosene and all I have to worry about is ON/OFF?

 

Yeah. It's available at the pump at some Rotten Robbie stations. Just store it in 5 gallon jugs and fill with one of these.

Thanks for the info on Kerosene. I got a good old fashion funnel and hose that can help me fill it.

 

Well guess what showed up here a few mins ago! One Diesel heater, sadly it is -40 here and I am not working on anything in the truck in those temps.

And it is beat to shit and missing pieces.

 

Yeah, Canada post isn't so great w/ international shipments.

 

Never have an issue with international shipments with CANADA post. It wasn’t packed correctly and just tossed in the box loose, the styrofoam was in pieces and not enough.

That being said, the parcel is missing the following:
-silencer/muffler
-instructions,
-key remote, was key so I could preheat the tent while driving to site
-clips to hold case together

Broken/damage:
-air duct is crushed
-control panel is installed upside down
-casing is bent

Oh well, Amazon will make it right and refund me the money, thankfully I documented everything as I opened the package as I suspected there maybe pieces missing.
