14ga is standard issue for 15amp circuits in a house. 8 gauge is good for up to 40amp.

Definitely overkill, but only thing it hurts is the wallet.

Looks very similar to my neck of the woods. Although most farms look the same in the winter.

As many before me, I am kind of changing the direction of my build or long term plans. I originally wanted to build an off-roader/mudder. Mud and water haven't appealed to me since high school though. I have always had a love for the outdoors and camping, so overlanding seems like a more logical fit. That doesn't really change much as I am just starting the build, although springs and leafs will need to be beefed up. My question as there is quite a bit of experience in this thread.
    1.) What are the essentials?
    2.) What is nice?
Priorities or at least your priorities from experience?.....RTT, OBA, Self-Recovery, Coms?

I realize a shred of common sense can go a long way. Don't put yourself in a situation you aren't prepared for. I saw a video of a couple tacomas doing the Morrison Jeep trail, and the whole idea of overlanding really set in. Obviously I'm on a budget like everyone else. Mine seems to be smaller than others though. I really want/need bumpers and sliders for this year. After the armor though, I would like to focus on the overland part of the build. Thanks in advance to any advice provided.

I made a mistake with my suspension set up after months of reading threads and posting. I figure there has to be some lessons learned by some that I can use. I'm hoping this can be something that my son and I can do together. Then just make it a tradition to get out once a year to explore a new destination. PA sucks for trails and longer trips, but the state and National forests have some worthy places to check out. My son is 3 so I have a couple years before long trips. I'd like to start camping this summer though.

Well that explains why my outdoor burner was having a hard time keeping up.

Yeah. I tore this apart because I already replaced the complete unit. I'm not wasting a 50 degree day in February.
