Agree. I bulked for 5 years or so. Then I cut. #230 down to #200. Was fairly quick - about 15 weeks.

Now back to a bulk to try and get 240 then cut down again, but this time the cut will hopefully only drop to #210. Ideally want to be about 8% bf at #225.

Agree, 50-60 is a huge amount and you will lose muscle. It's important for proper diet and training regimen though as well. If you are not feeding your body properly, you will lose to fast. I don't believe you can retain all your muscle when cutting unless you're on drugs to assist. If you take a year to slowly chisel away, maybe... but that is very tedious.

I'm committed to a slower rate of fat loss...that's why I'm not worried about the scale. My focus now that I'm on track with eating clean (junk and soda is completely gone) is strength. For the first good bit it was accountability of getting into the gym, then it was cutting out the soda, then the junk food.

My gf is 5'2 about #122. Shes a little monster. Tons of muscle on her. She eats about 1800 calories a day right now. Super proud of where she has came, been through a lot and will be competing soon in May for her first time bikini NPC show. Super excited and happy for her. She's gonna kill it!

Haha so you are like a foot taller than her.

1800 is pretty good amount for 5’2’ in contest prep.

I wish her luck in May!

Agree so much cut sugar was my key. It is everything. Then carb depletion to make my body more responsive to good carbs. Don’t believe no sugar added or well it’s natural sugar. Males should only have no more 48 grams. There over 60 different names for sugar. Everyone is different what works for me might not work for some. Activating quick twitch muscles will burn fat and definitely chase the mirror.

Pretty much a foot yea, lol. It's great though, I still feel tall even when she wears her 6" heels, and she doesn't feel tall so win win. Yea, she is 13? weeks out or so. The calories will slowly come down to probably 1400 or so depending. 6 Day lift plan 6 day cardio right now.

I will keep updated as time goes on. It's been good right now, just gotta get her into posing... She's gonna have the body, she just needs to get her routine down. They are only allowed 3 poses pretty much, but the key is the transition and poise during the transitions that get people docked points.

You guys are helping me realize that I have a lot of work ahead of me to achieve my fitness goals. That and I’m not pushing myself hard enough. Then there’s the diet...argh, I really need to eat better.

It really is a majority of diet. Working out is the easy part. 1-2 hours a day at the gym is muchhhhh quicker than proper meal prepping and cooking and saying no to temptations.

Make small changes don’t do the only salad thing be aware of sugar be aware of too much dairy, red meat, and breads. If you drink alcohol do wine instead of beer. Otherwise you will be miserable.

I’m noticing that if I have a couple beers one night...I see it on me shortly after.

I did best when I ate mostly meats & vegetables and had minimal carbs. It’s hard to do that unless I start prepping meals etc. I think I just may go that rout...depending on how much self disciplined I can muster up.

Don’t confuse water weight with body fat.
More carbs = more water weight.

I prefer lower carb as well. I feel much better.
Keto wasn’t for me but I like low carb.

Nothing wrong but if you want to get into the zone and consume those items every once an awhile you will be good. But to jump start your nutrition you need to cleanse those items. Diary bloats you stocks you up, beer no explanation needed, red meat takes longer for your body to process. Just be aware and balance you will see a manageable diet while enjoying the fine aforementioned foods.

I LOVE beer, but I really have to limit how often I partake.

It’s not that I can’t fit a few into my diet here and there. That’s certainly doable. However, beer had this magical ability to make me not give a fuck about my diet anymore. Then I eat a whole pizza, some cake, pancakes, a small child, and a box of Oreos.
