The paint on my 2016 Tacoma is blistering all over the place. The blisters are the size of a pin head and eventually break open. When they do there is a small rust dot in the middle. Toyota says this is due to "outside influences". I have had it to a few body shops and they all agree that this is a Toyota issue and that they owe me a new truck because the cost of stripping and repainting the truck isn't worth it. Is anyone else having similar issues?

That's possible. But 3 years later seems a touch unlikely. But still possible.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

So your '16 is worth less that $5-6k? Sad.

Even if they were, not sure what difference would it make to your situation? Are you looking for some class action work or something?

Still under warranty. When I went to the dealer to meet the regional manager all I got was a piece of paper saying that it was outside influences. I never got to meet the regional manager and when I asked to speak with him/her I was told that they already left. Now they tell me to get a few quotes from local body shops. Two said they would not touch it because it will never be correct and the third said he would give me a quote but really didn't think it was worth fixing since he thought it might be $15K. Unless Toyota steps up I am likely to have a rust bucket before it is paid off.

I would also question the qualifications of the individual who made that statement. Get the estimates along with the professional opinions of people who do bodywork for a living

Right now I am just wondering if I am the only one with this issue or if there are others out there and what their experience with Toyota has been.

Seems like there are a few people out there with different types of paint issues.
Curious to know what Toyota has been doing about it

Seriously though, can we some pics? I know there have been one or two people with fading issues on BBP, but not blistering.
Where do you live and what conditions is your truck subjected to. Even if it was "outside influences" it would seem other people in your area, neighbors or co workers, would be having issues on their vehicles no matter what brand.

I had minor rust spots but only on the pinch welds of the bed between the cab...Toyota fixed it under warranty. The photo above shows the worst one, three in total.

The body shops don't want the work because they cant fix a body, or because it's going to be too expensive? o_O

Pics man, pics. And while you're at it, pot up a pic of that 15K quote.

    Something is amiss.

I know a paint and body guy that has put a 2,000 dollar paint job on a car worth no more than 800 dollars. You gotta do whatever pays the bills. As long as the customer is paying you dont ask questions.
    I agree, something is amiss.

Are you dealing with a dealership or with Toyota Corporate? If you're working with the dealer, just stop, because it's clear they aren't willing to help. Call corporate and open an official ticket, and be nice, and you might get further.

$15K for a complete repaint? I HIGHLY doubt it would cost anywhere near that. a complete strip and repaint would maybe closer to $5K but definitely NOT $15K! I would love to see some pics of the paint. we can tell more about what it might be if we can see it.

I have a 2016 Super White DCLB with no paint issues whatsoever. I call bullshit without pictures of the damage. Even then, I've never heard of this before, so it's a weird issue.

My paint has been great, hitting branches on trails has buffed out fine. The only damage I have is one scratch on top of the hood from hitting debris on the highway. It's all the way through the paint, and touched up fine with nail polish.
