Ok so I ordered a quick fit kit with some orw bed inserts was gonna mount a shovel too. Do I just drill through the quick kit holes and mount it up or do I even need the inserts ?

There shouldn't be any drilling but you do need a bolt to hold it down.

That’s probably not going to fit in the bed rail. The easier thing to do is get one of these from eBay (don’t use the hardware) and mount it with the Honda Garage T nuts and M8 X 1.25 20mm bolts. Then just attach your quick fist clamps to the front with some bolts from the hardware store. If you have a shovel, you need an axe.

Here's an installation pic but you need bolts to make it work

    Cheap solution.

    Buy these.

Get bolts to fit(I don’t remember the size and length I used off hand). and large washers to sit on the outside of the track if desired. Drill out the center of the quick fist where the hole is to about the diameter of the bolt (they do stretch some) and screw together.

I’d take some pics but it’s cold as hell. Mounted shovel and axe in the bed for less than 10 bucks not counting cost of quickfist.

The problem with mounting the quick fist directly to the rail is that the quick fist will start to sag once you place a shovel or ax in it. There's nothing below the quick fist to help distribute the weight without some type of mounting bracket.

I have the relentless quick fist mounts for my shovel and axe. I also have a fire extinguisher I mounted straight to the bed without bolts in the quick fist. Just screwed the quickfists into the bed and i haven’t had any problems.
