It's worth mentioning this is only applicable when paired with an aftermarket leaf pack. The stock leafs (even with an AAL added) don't flex much at all.

That’s a very solid lift if that’s the route you go. If you do go dakars, get the b110 and +4” extended brake lines from wheelers off-road.

Yo, thinking about getting this same exact set up. is the truck still level after adding some weight in the camper shell? would you do anything differently? and did you replace the needle bearing?

    Thanks for your help!!

So I added a polyurethane 0.5 inch strut top spacer on top of both front coilovers (5100 + 885) and I’m so much happier with the front end height now. I felt for so long that i was barely at 2.5” front lift but now I’m at a good solid 3” front lift to pair with my rear 2.75/3” lift and to help accommodate some heavy steel skids that are coming.

Note* drivers side i kept the .25” strut top spacer in addition to the .5” strut top spacer to help fight the lean. Truck drives great. No noticeable negative changes with on road driving and I got a fresh alignment too. This was only doable because I got extended top studs when I had wheeers build my coilovers last year for this potential reason.

Again, I just wasn’t happy with the front height for some time, and considering I want to slightly raise the rear height with some archive garage hammer hangers and also put some heavy skids up front, I wanted to help lift it a hair. All below pics are after adding the .5” strut top spacer.

I just did the 5100 with 885 coils only got 2 inches took rear leafs out they were to high so now 36 1/2 all the way around. Also have 1/4 spacer on Driver’s for taco lean. Double cab 4.0, probably going to pull front coils and go bigger after front skids are done. Has anyone else only go 2” on 885’s Zero setting?

I might have been 2.25 front with my 885’s. That’s why I added a .5” strut top spacer above the top hats & im super happy with the height now

I'm sitting at approximately 2 inches with 885 on Billstien 5100s. I'm running a bullbar with no winch (for now). So my question is when I get around to putting a winch on should I stay with my 5100s with the 886 coils that I probably already need or should I get some OME shocks?

I really like how it handles now will is be similar with 886 coils on 5100s?

The only other concern I have is that both my rear 5100s are leaking. Is this because my dakaD springs are more than welcome they can handle? Should I change my rear shocks or just waranwar my current shocks on the rear?

I know that's a lot of questions I'm hoping that someone has some insight into this. That's what TW is about afrterall.
    TIA

What’s with the argument I’ve seen made about how 5100 are made to go with only stock coils?

If you use them for the lift only do so with stock coils. If you use them with lift coils set them at the lowest notch and let the coils do the lift.

I have used 5100’s paired with OME lift coils on our 5th gen 4runner and my tacoma with GREat results and success. Both on and off road. As long as you use the lowest lift setting on the 5100 perches so that ALL of the lift is from the lift coil.

I absolutely would not get OME SHOCKS instead of 5100’s. I have seen so many complaints with the OME shocks and by and far they are some of the shortest shocks on the market for our trucks so you’ll have a lot less droop/travel. Stick with 5100’s but get the OME coil to equal whatever front end weight you have. They have plenty of options pending your bumper or winch weight

Ome website doesn’t even have coils for 1st gen. Does this whole threads apply to 2005+?

I'm not sure how the website works. I have seen one coils on first gen Tacoma. I very driven one. Some nay have more insight than me. First gen is a smaller truck so when I'm running an 885 coil on my double cab a first gen double cab may be running say an 881 coil. (Don't quote me on the exact number )
I'm sure you can get some ome suspension for a first gen. I don't know which part numbers you need and I don't know about the 5100 shock.

I hope you don't use your shocks as your droop limiter.

That's literally what they're designed for. Otherwise you would over stretch your leafs :cookiemonster::stirthepot:
