Short box vs Long box

sounds like a long bed is in order for u i haul an atv as well i have doublecab longbed and would never think about the short bed.

 

Even my long bed is too short to haul my motorcycle. I think I need a trailer.

It all depends on your needs. I personally don't haul all that much: trash to the dump once a week, Home Depot purchases, etc. I just like driving a truck and when you need a truck and you don't have one, calling a buddy or renting is a PITA. If you are REALLY hauling, a Tacoma isn't the right truck for you anyway. Get a Tundra.

 

I say SHORT BED. Long beds are too long. If you go that route than get the Tundra. If you haul that much you're going to need the V8. Right? Long bed Taco and short bed Tundra are roughly the same. The question is "Power?" How much do you need? Should have been a vote?

 

Their isnt anyting that I have thrown at my '06 longbox DC TRD SPT that it hasnt been able to handle. I have 16 horses that I hay all year, and live out in the country. Round bales in the bed(100 lbs +-) pulling 4 horses(estimated 7800 lbs) all this traversing wooded acreage. The loves it!

Yep same here, plus the longer wheelbase on the Longbed makes it better for towing.

 

I went w/ the long bed, black w/ sport package. Just like the looks and functionality better. I'll take some pics and intro myself soon.

 

I have a 2wd Double Cab, Long Bed, SR5. It has the Limited Slip Differential as an option. Love the truck. The extra bed length does not come in handy every day, but when you need it, you need it.

 

only way i can get the bikes in the back is with the tail gate down. if i could do it over i would probably go for the long bed. as long as no one steals the gate i'll make due

 

short bed - want the truck look but dont wanna use it as a truck or theyre being a little girl about it and they dont want to haul shit and mess up their bed liner

long bed- for those who actually use a truck for its capabilities not just off road

 

I actually just swapped from a Dodge Dakota entended cab to a Tacoma access cab with the standard short bed. No problems thus far with fitting things. The only difference I've found between the Dakota and Tacoma are the width. The Dodge is a little wider. On the other hand, I'm more than happy that I got rid of the Dodge. You'll be happier with the Tacoma. I'll stick with the short bed, if I need anything bigger, I'll just hitch the trailer.

Agreed!!! To anybody reading this that is on the fence between a Dakota, Frontier, or other mid-sized trucks; do yourself a favor and at least test drive a Tacoma. Four years ago I debated between the 3, and regretted it after about a month of driving the Dakota.

I've had my Tacoma DC LB for 4 days and couldn't be happier!!! Toyota just simply pays attention to details. Except the damn rear drums, WTF Toyota...

Yeah, but they're putting back-up cameras, leather, 6-disc changers, ect. in them. I couldn't get leather, but I here them some have. I agree with you, but don't agree w/ Toyota's thought process. Sounds silly, but this was one of the deal breakers when I debated between a Dakota and Tacoma 4 years ago.

Toyota, if you're reading this, "Please put rear discs in future Tacomas!!! Ohh, and make a upgrade kit through Toyota or TRD" Wishful thinking never hurt.
