Still standing by what I said. The 01-04 body style is too curvy/feminine for my taste.

Nice work! Thanks for documenting! I’m about to Frankenstein 2 Tacoma’s together (one has a good frame, the other has good everything else) so this thread offers some good insight. One is 2000 and one is 2002. I’m a little torn on which body to keep, because I like the 2002 front clip better but I like the 2000 color better.

What you are doing looks so tiring. Good luck with the rest of it. Can't wait to see the finished product !

She gets around sometimes! Gotta update the suspension. Not looking for a huge lift. Trying to make it a more comfortable ride offroad. Right now feels like I'm riding a horse.
Old man emu spring any good? And what brand of leaf springs will give me 1-2" lift without compromising comfort??

Leaf spring broke! Anyone have a suggestion on what brand of spring to go with?

I had the same issue years ago. I went to the local junkyard, found a Tacoma of a similar year, pulled the part off of the truck, paid $100 for it, and had my friend install it for me. That being said, after 20 years of driving my truck with crappy shock, stock front coils & leaf springs, I bought the complete OME suspension kit which included a set of Dakar leaf springs & D43XL add a leafs. The truck rides a lot smoother on the street/highway and handles well.

Alright thanks for the advice! I'm gonna look into that!
I hear the AAL is makes the truck smoother ride than HD ones and gives more hauling capacity?

The D43XL add a leaf allows an extra 220lbs of constant weight. The truck as it is with the complete OME lift kit rides smoothly on street/highway. I just had the stainless steel brake line installed today. I'll be able to take it offroad now without issues of damaging anything.

Sweet man! I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy that. That sounds like something I would need. Now, I have 3" shackles on the back, I think I'm gonna remove those. I don't want a high lift. Do you suggest I get the stainless steel line as well if I'm going with tbis suspension?

My mechanic recommended to install the 24" stainless steel brake line due to the amount of lift on my truck. You'll have to decide how much lift that you want, the type of shocks/coils/springs that will match your truck, and how much do you want to spend.

Well, if anyone on here cares to know, I’ve moved on from the tacoma. I know it was silly of me to do that but, I needed something with a little more power.
I rebuilt this v8 4runner in less than 2 months and got it home from the paint shop the same day the tacoma was sold.

Why couldn't you keep both. When I got 4Runner for a "family get away car" I still kept my old Tacoma that got upgraded from "family get away car" to "personal fun truck". Both trucks moved with me 6000 miles from California to Poland. They really like to be together.:D

Well, I guess I could have. I don’t regret selling it because I didn’t like how crammed I felt in it. I’ll be looking to get a DC toyota in the future. That’s awesome that you done that! That’s great!

Sorry boys I’m on tundra forums now! Love my “new” 2006 DC tundra. My baby.
Learning lots on the forums over there too. Super knowledgeable folks out here I love it. And no way! OEM Tools(25969) now has that 4 pin socket for the rear hub bearing lock washer piece. Cool how the Amazon link as at the bottom of this page.
