Agreed. If the manual is still available on the 2020 I'll be getting one if Toyota checks off the important boxes for me that were annoyances or issues with my 2016. A few things have already been addressed, a few are being addressed, and I am looking forward to find out Thursday what other changes Toyota is making.

That truck with the 1LR-GUE V10 Lexus engine will make that haul.

I am excited to see what the new Tundra has in store. Spy shots have already been posted. It is running in a gen 2 test mule body but at least it's been confirmed a new Tundra is on the way.

I wonder if upgrades will include things that actually matter like fixing the gear-hunting transmissions. Cosmetics are nice, if you care about that sort of thing, but if the thing can't get out of it's own way, what's the point?

Range and power. I won't touch GM with a ten foot pole. I grew up in a GM family and had the misfortune of owning two GM vehicles. Both shit the bed early. My father's on his second avalanche, my step moms on her 3rd trail blazer, my moms on her 5th GM, my brother's on his second gm. All have had issues under 150k miles.

Exactly what I did after reading that and thought, I think I’m actually happy with a 3rd gen...:p

    I'm hoping:
    • Manual stays for 2020
    • Toyota Canada brings back a base TRD Sport 6-spd manual with no moonroof like the 2016 model year or:
    • The power seat lowers the seat enough that the moonroof trims clears my head.
    • Carplay

Curious to see if the teaser photo is cropped like that because there's new front bumper, and if so what it looks like. The protruding lower portion of the bumper is for safety reasons, always thought it looked a bit off from certain angles. Hope they can clean up that styling a bit.

I highly doubt the motor or transmissions change.

It would be cool if they added factory integrated wiring / USB power for the GoPro mount or other dashcams.

i came from a 1st gen tundra and before that a 1st gen tacoma. for the 20 some odd years ive owned trucks, ive never had to use a back up camera. and the 20 years as a paramedic, ive never had to use a back up camera to back into hospital bays or the station bay. im actually surgical with how i can back it into spots. the camera throws me off. i only use it to make sure im not going to back into a wall or post as i get into a spot.

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of the lame "I don't need xyz" BS that people spout in regard to these trucks on this forum. Oh, we don't NEED rear disc brakes. We don't NEED power seats. We don't NEED the camera lines to move like they do on almost every other vehicle. Who is talking about need? These are $35-40k trucks. If you don't demand better as the consumer, you won't get better products.

I swear, I've never been part of a community that was more anti-progress than this one (some of it, not most or all). Sometimes one would think this is a retirement home.

opinions are like assholes, man, everyones got one.

and if toyota wanted to improve anything, they should improve the quality of the camera which in my OPINION, isn't the greatest in definition, or color saturation.

If your opinion is anti-progress or against making the product better, then your opinion, like said asshole, stinks.

I'll reliability over all these widgets to break and a cost a fortune to fix. I'm not interested in any of the things you mentioned and people seem to forget that these things ADD cost. Take a look at how much the new ranger costs. One comparably equipped to my tacoma is around $45,000....

Dude, disc brakes and power seats have been basic features in cars for almost 30 years now. These aren't "widgets".

Starting off with"'sorry" and then ending with an insult (retirement home comment) is unnecessary....but you're entitled. I provided my opinion that I do not care for cameras - the definition of progress is subjective.

The definition of progress when it comes to technology is not subjective. You don't have to use feature if it bothers you, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be there, or at least be an option.

Regardless, one should always want a given product to get better and offer more. Not "needing" it is not an excuse to not have it.

We disagree on the first part of your statement - however I have zero issue with your latter remark - offering many options - I'm a capitalist and will always favor the market place deciding the fate of a product.

I feel like an old man, but I'm not that old. I remember looking over the truck thinking "Damn, it doesn't have power seats. Oh well still want it." "Damn, rear drums in 2018? Oh well, it should still work or they wouldn't be using them." I was buying on reliability and reputation. Toyota's all over in the family so I joined the bandwagon.

I can see the complaints somewhat, but I think what makes some of us seem anti-progressive in regards to car features is the level of complaining. Like these aren't features that seem that important. If power seats make or break the vehicle for you, move on to something else. Its just a minor annoyance. It doesn't fundamentally change the vehicle.

Never said it, and my mindset is to each his own - I recently spent about 30K changing my entire home over to Apple Computers - not because I'm an Apple fan or because I think they are the most cutting edge - but simply because they offer computers/laptops that are working for my family - I may totally change brands 5 years from now. I'm certain Toyota is offering the most cost effective options and skuing them down to maximize profit, as they should. I have no dog in this fight, I do not own Toyota Stock - if not for the retirement home comment I would have never responded.

I really hope they fix the transmission. Hybrid would be great, but won't happen. Other than that Carplay would be nice.

Was planning on a purchase within the next month but if they change the transmission I'll wait. Heading to Chicago next week to get look in-person.
