Hi all, anyone ever have issues with exterior windshield haze? I've tried every conceivable glass product, even high end carpro Ceriglass and the haze didn't come off. A friend who works for toyota told me it will probably have to be replaced.

Anyone else have issues with this? My truck is parked outside 100% of the time.

Have you tried Cerium Oxide? it's pretty aggressive and is what we used at a glass factory for minor scratches. You'll need to do a machine polish - we used a hard felt bob in a half inch drill for small areas.

Are you sure it's not the vinyl interlayer?

Ceriglass is a cerium oxide product. Used a machine dual action polisher. It looks like it on the surface.

Honda, trust me, I'm at that point,.

I just cleaned mine good yesterday, mine had oil or something on it. I used a mixture of distilled water and vinegar. It’s squeaky clean now! It smelled like a salad for a bit, but no streaks.

Don’t forget to clean the wipers good also.

Shame that the dump truck that threw the rock off its load right through your windshield didn't stop and let you grab his license plate. Seriously, call your insurance company. They'll often cover a windshield without you having to follow dump trucks too closely. May just need to run it by a glass shop and take photos.

This is what I do with my windshields yearly or when I get new ones.

Clean the windshield with car wash soap and water.
    Rinse and dry.
Clay bar the windshield. Mothers makes a great cheap kit ith clay bar and lube.
After clay I spray invisible glass on a microfiber towel and wipe down the windshield.
I take my dual action polisher set to the highest setting and a microfiber pad with a mild cutting polish and I polish the windshield as I would paint. 4 passes, overlapping each one moving 4 inchesper second.
Buff off the excess and clean one more time and if you like trar it with a hydrophobic coating.

This essentially deep cleans the glass it doesn’t buff it. It will strip a lot of the oils and gunk on the windshield.

When cleaning any glass surface do not spray the glass with the cleaning product, spray it on a microfiber towel. The largest cause of streaking and filmy residue is excessive product. Spraying directly on the surface usually results in too much product being applied.

If you do not have a polisher I bet you’ll get significant improvement just by using a clay bar.

I clay bar my windshield then finish cleaning it using invisible glass . As mentioned above spray the window cleaner onto the microfiber towel only then wipe the windows down

Ok so to be clear here's what I did:
    1. wash
    2. clay bar and nanoskin
    3. Ceriglass Polish with machine DA polisher (won't find a better glass polish than this)
    4. Griots Boss Polish with DA
    5. Zaino all in one cleaner
    6. Changed wipers
    7. hydrophobic treatment.

    no bananas.

Dang! Maybe you should try the bananas! Seriously run out and try some vinegar on a micro fiber towel. It really cleaned mine up nicely.

I had a similar issue with a back glass on another vehicle. It was at the bottom of the glass and I guess it was from water sitting for extended periods- it was a white haze that looked like calcium stains. Cerium oxide removed it but it literally took hours of polishing with a hard felt bob. The only reason I put in the work was that this was an old car with glass that was discontinued. For a windshield that's available, I'd have it replaced as I'm sure it's also scratched and has tiny pits.

Wet your windshield, sprinkle some Bon Ami cleanser on it, and scrub it around with and old sock or terrycloth towel. Keep it wet, wash it off with soap and water, rinse it well with water when you're done, making sure you get it off all surfaces. I've used this for years.

I'll try the Bon AMi, but I'm pretty sure if Ceriglass doesn't smoke what's on the windshield, bon ami won't.

I’m surprised the vinegar didn’t work. You can’t use drinking water from your spigot cause it’s treated. And will streak.
Either distilled water or just use straight vinegar. White vinegar!

How sure are you that it's on the outside? I get hazy film on the inside of my windshield and I've tried every glass product on the market and they only smear it around. 100% the best way to get rid of it is a completely dry cloth of any type and elbow grease. Work it like you're polishing and the dry rag will pick up the film better than anything.

I promise I'm not being a smartass, but...you cleaned the INSIDE too right? Cuz mine got hazy and it was on the inside.
