My father had same problem. Tried everything. Polished it, vinegar, witches brew. Only thing that worked, a new windshield.

I had it on my 2015. Totally baffled me how it could happen. Looked like someone used brillo pads for windshield wipers for a few years. Ended up replacing the windshield because it drove me nuts.

that's a good description of it.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I've never heard of having to replace a windshield for hazing but now I feel OK about it.

IPA should take it right off. Could try claybar, razor blade with some type of lubricant (glass cleaner), scrub with microfiber/waffle weave with IPA, and clean with glass cleaner after.

Since you live in Hawaii, is it possible it’s from volcanic ash, and you must of turned the wipers on and scratched it.

Nothing will get out the fine scratches. Trust me. Clay bar just takes off surface contaminates. I think the new winshwinds ran me $225. The dealer must have buffed the windshield with motor oil to hide it during the sale. As soon as I cleaned it the first time myself, I was like wtf!

Steel wool (the super fine stuff 0000) and invisible glass brand cleaner. That took the film off my windows inside and out. They look fine. Test it and see what you think. Do not use on applied tint film. If it's scratches or pits nothing will help much, consider replacing.

I would try buffing compound and a power buffer. It sounds like you have nothing to lose!
It may take some time but it's worth a shot.

What condition are your microfiber/buffing pads in? Did you mix compounds?

Ceriglass is a cerium oxide product and much harder polish than most rubbing compounds.

If you are using a glass polish and not getting anywhere I’m not sure there is more that you can do.

I’m just not sure what would get into the glass that badly and not at least buff off.

I agree and I was told it's "windshield burn" so I'm assuming sun damage along with etching from wipers. So probably something abrasive got on my window and combined with the sun, it got damaged.

I'm trying to make myself feel better by saying I haven't had to change the windshield in 8 years. I know sometimes you never need to but I'm trying to make myself feel better.
