That looks like an awesome trip. Be sure to post pictures and a report on whether the route was friendly to 4 wheels or just 2. It looks more of a dual sport route as opposed to my low rider though.

Not sure of the cost of the ARB but American Van has drawers. I have the aluminum 4'x4' and its held up well for 3-4 years now.

I would not want to do these on a low rider.
My first passion is 2 wheels.

Dude... I'd race you there like Rat Race style and get you sent on some "should have bought a squirrel" detour.

I've wanted to do Skyline drive and dragon's tail for a while. My bike doesn't handle great at low speeds though with forward controls. I haven't rode it in 2 years and have been debating selling it for a tractor. I know I would regret it immediately though. I just need to track my electrical issue down. I believe I have it down now, but my battery is junk so I can't tell. According to my multimeter though it is charging and within spec with my new voltage regulator. If I don't ride it and fix it this summer, I'm moving on. I love the FXR frame and the way it handles going down the road, figure 8s not so much for a license not so much.

This why I need a ten foot tongue length. It would’ve helped you manage the weight distribution of those telephone pole sized lumber you were hauling.

I did that with my MR2 years ago. Fun day. Thankfully my brakes held up to the task. I look back on that and wonder what I was thinking, cuz I could have blown something out easily and been stranded down hundreds of miles from home.

What does everyone that does not use a swingout use to carry a spare? I know a 33 will fit stock spot, but once I get a more convenient way to carry a spare I want to work it into the rotation, so I don't want to use the stock carrier. In retrospect I should just remove the tire and carrier. They are just dead weight at this point.

Damn. Something tore loose in your arm? WTF?

Do you have full range of motion in that arm, without feeling pain as you move it? You should probably get that checked Joe.

I like having the option of both.

On road or mild off-road I prefer the stock under frame location.

Gnarly Off-road stuff at Rausch or AAOA, I move the tire to the rear carrier to gain maximum clearance and departure angle.

So if I didn’t have a rear swingout with carrier, I would just throw the spare in the bed and lash it down.

Skyline Dr. is nice. I prefer the higher speeds and less patrolled Blue Ridge Parkway personally. Did the Dragon 4 times, I have no desire to do that cluster f#@k again. Lots of other great roads in the vicinity with little traffic.

I have phone numbers in my Rolodex at work for Toyota specific junk yards. Everything I have ever called for is crazy high prices. And neither one is the place @Taco critter mentioned.
