Access Cab Seat Belt Twisting

When I take off my seatbelt to exit it often twists and fails to retract all the way. I have to manually untwist it.

Lately it has been getting stuck where the belt is long enough that if I open the Access door the belt falls between the door & frame. Makes a nice crunch when the male end gets trapped.

I've adjusted the belt to it's highest, a medium, and lowest setting and it still twists.

Trying to relearn how to remove my seat belt isn't working out too well.

Anybody else have a fix?

 

I have the same problem . There was a TSB or recall on this issue I believe . Supposably my dealer did the fix ,but it still doesn’t retract all the way more than half the time . PITA

Not that big of a deal. Happens occasionally. Change how you get out to prevent seat belt twistage!

 

My dealer supposedly "fixed" it and as I was leaving the dealership the seat belt wouldn't extend the whole way. Since then, my seat belt has been functioning the exact same way.

They also shaved my gas pedal when I specifically told them not to.

Moral of the story, there's not much you can do to a Tacoma and make it better.

 

Happens to me as well on both sides. I just live with it.

Shoulder pads? Not sure how that is going to work. The ones I've seen hinder the belt's retraction.

 

I thought the TSB was to check and tighten the bolt as some came loose and rattled, and if it fell out then the seatbelt was useless.

 

Could be ? It was so long ago I don’t remember

 

After taking my doors apart for speaker upgrades myself, I didnt bother with the TSB as I KNEW the bolts were tight. If that was indeed the TSB I was thinking about

 

Mine does that on occasion, but it will do it when I pull it out as well. Then it's a real bitch to get straightened out and running again. I would guess that pulling the panel and cleaning/lubing the seatbelt mechanism would be beneficial but haven't tried yet.

 

Stop removing your seat belt so fast.

Thats like saying you want to stop bottle from rattling when you slam your fridge door shut. Just stop slaming the door shut.

 

I was all excited that somebody might have found an easy fix for this, kind of, annoying problem.

Alas! We're all still doomed to deal with this devastatingly diabolical dilemma until deceased!

Whats this about shaving the gas pedal?

 

To keep the floor mat from getting caught under it ! They did it to me without asking then had me sign something saying I knew it was done

 

Interesting. My truck is currently on the hoist getting a new frame, this is the first I've head about shaving the gas pedal. I'll have to take a look at it when I get the truck back. How much did they take off?

It’s been so long since it was done . Over 5 years ago . If you remember people were getting in accidents with Toyota’s . At first they thought it was the engine revving uncontrollably then they figured out it was the floor mats getting caught under the pedal . A few different models . But I think they shaved the pedal on all models .
