    Hey everyone,

    The reason:
I have a Roof top tent that I don't want to keep on all year long. My garage is about 2-2.5 inches too short to fit the Taco + RTT. I was able to get her in by deflating the tires down to about 7-10psi and reverse about 5 feet into the garage, but don't feel that is the best option to do more than that one time. I figure if I can get some 16 (or smaller) inch rims with some low profile tires I can lose about 3 inches in tire/wheel radius.

    The Taco:
    2017 4x4 trd offroad

    The need:
I need to figure out what is the cheapest/smallest rim and tire package I can get. I would only need 2 for the rear and these do not need to be in anyway good as they would only be driven on about 200ft total a year.

    Thank you :)

16 inch wheels are the smallest wheels that fit any smaller and you’ll hit the calipers

that sounds like a huge PITA.....I'm guessing you want it in the garage so you can take the RTT off? That's why it's only 200ft /yr

I'd say just lower the tire pressure like you were doing. Just roll slow. There are guys on here that run trails with 5-10psi just to get the traction. Sure they pop the tires off every once and a while, but they're moving. You'll be just fine backing into your garage.

Save your money and spend it on camping trips!

Once you get the truck and RTT into the garage, are you lifting it off with a pulley/hoist? Is that why you mention you don't want to keep it on all year long?

^^^ this. Use the money to buy a good compressor/on board air setup instead.

Yes, we have a hoist to lift it up.

I figured if I can just swap the rear rims real quick it would take the stress of almost hitting the top of the garage away. With deflating to that low pressure I was still barely clearing the top of the garage by a blonde one and I had to remove the ladder from the RTT(which really only saved me about 1/2 an inch because I couldn't easily remove the hinges).

Problem solved... Or maybe dig out the concrete floor and driveway? That'll save a couple inches, right? lol

You can go to 15" wheels in the rear only (or even smaller if you manage to find any in the 6x5.5" lug pattern) - the brake drum will clear them just fine. Find some old 1st gen or pre-Taco Toyota pickup / 4Runner wheels and you are golden.

I’ve seen that picture a few times. Always say to myself what a waste of money. One large speed hump at the mall will rip all that shit off

Post a picture of your truck and the tent you speak of. There has to be an easier way to do this.

My truck with the RTT creator's first version.

I didn't take any pictures of it with it closed before I took it down.

Throw a bunch of weight in the back to get it to sag then remove weight once out of garage.

Why not just rig up a “cart” with 2x4s and wagon wheels. You can get the 6” ones at HD or Lowe’s. Unbolt RTT, lift up the back, slide half under. Lift up front, send the rest under. Cart it inside, attach to hoist.

Edit; or CZ’s method with your creeper to position it.
