The ev tune is under scrutiny for causing more misfires now though. Who knows what the long term wear and tear is. :( I was about ready to jump in on it too. Now i am just crossing my fingers Toyota updates it again.

I would not touch the power train until the vehicle is out of warranty.. Dealers always look for an out. Even when unmodified.

Brand new '19 TRD Sport Access Cab Super white here. I have zero issues with my AT. I'm not a young hot-shoe
anymore, but this truck is perfect for me, no complaints.

Pro grille installed, all badging on the truck and the shell removed, love the look.

Bilstein 8110 lift, TC UCAs, 285/70 17 BFG tires on SEMA TRD T4R satin black wheels. No rub.

Baja Designs Squadrons & Rebel cap. I'm quite smitten with the build that I put together.

I don't use Apple Play, but I am definitely NOT keeping the free XM radio demo.

The OVtune can be flashed back to stock whenever you want to. So if you are worried about it, you can always flash back to stock before going.
Some people are reporting a higher number of misfires with the new version of the tune, but it is being investigated and worked on. From what I can gather, it seems like a small number of trucks. My truck gets the same general number of misfires with the tune as I did stock.

OVTune will solve the transmission/engine issues, and I’d also like to add that getting a manual trans in these trucks is worth it. I traded my sr5 in for an MT OR.
Also, if you get 35’s you’ll need to regear to 4.88’s at least, although I’d go with 5.29’s. Just be ready for lots of cutting lol

The only real gremlin with lifting is having to get an ECGS bushing installed in the front diff. A ~$65 part, and free labor if you do it yourself. Should take most shops about 1 - 1.5 hours.

3.5 peak hp is 6k rpm. Peak torque is 4600 rpm. This isnt a smogged out malaise era V8, it likes to spin. It needs to spin. This is the way it goes with these new v6's in mid sized trucks. The gm twins peak hp is a whopping 6800 rpm. I never floor my truck, but it really comes alive north of 3000-3500 rpm. Not so much below.

Does removing the air dam really affect mileage? I want to remove mine and was hesitant because it’s leased but will prob just remove and keep to put back on later

I see trucks on the road with those stupid things still hanging off the front.

I took it off in the dark the night I bought the truck.

I don't care about mileage, I didn't want to look like a douche.

I have a 2019 OR 4x4 short bed 3 weeks old. I wanted a long bed impossible to find in my area unless I wanted sr5 package with no 4x4. Yes tech package is cool but radar is user friendly and you can turn it off. I second the annoying transmission it shifts like my 2001 Tacoma with the 3RZ transmission! Its annoying but it is what is the closest manual was over 200 miles away and not my first choice in color. No car play for this guy my build date was Nov 2018 on the chassis. I was ok with that coming from a cassette player cd combo on my 01. You will not like the Navigation it is really weird I still use WAZE lol. 2019 is missing a bed cubby which I would actually use. Oh the grill design is kinda weird but I have to wait to replace it when money comes along. It looks easy to change and really changes the way the truck looks. My quicksand has too much chrome which is funny I will take it off or black out the trim with that much chrome.

Backspacing on the 4runner rims will work on a tacoma with 285's. the width of the wheel is the absolute minimum for that tire

Well I am looking at one of these trucks for longevity... I look like this, assuming a specific speed say 65mph for one hour. The difference in 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm is significant, obviously double... but do the math... that's each piston cycling an EXTRA 120,000 times just in one hour.... each movement is a minute amount of wear. EVERY engine has a certain number of cycles it can do before something wears out and breaks...

regarding the peak horsepower, yes they make the peak numbers at high rpm... that is a number the manufacturers use to sell vehicles, "oh this one has this much" - but it doesn't mean you're supposed to drive around redlining a pickup truck all day either, it isn't a race car...

It seems like there's a sensible way of driving that should equal more longevity than a lead foot would attain. (not being ridiculous and idling everywhere either, just a normal range)

that looks really nice, good choices!!! I like the tire size, I'd be happy with that. I'm a huge fan of de-badging everything, just looks so much cleaner.

So, there have been many folks mention an "issue" with the way the AT shifts... can anyone elaborate on what they are experiencing? I am much more concerned with longevity than how responsive it is when you stomp on it for example.

Just wondering if the issues people mention are something that COULD affect it's lifespan, such as banging hard shifts or something of that nature.
