    THIS!
I took my new Tacoma out to the Ocotillo Wells ORV Park to test my truck's new traction systems that me previous Tacomas did not have. Go to Devil's Slide and just explore around. The bubbling mud pots are fun to see, east of Pole Line Road.
I am sure I posted photos of that here ... in 2010.

I usually recommend Pine Valley trail or Oriflame for a nice moderate learning experience. Both are fun trails and the views are great. Nothing crazy besides a little bit of a height experience on Oriflame. Just make sure you close the gates!

I stayed inside and drank all the beer. If you ever travel to the Hudson Valley, Sloop Brewing knows what they are doing with Hazy IPAs, Juice Bomb and Super Soft were both awesome.

OK then, be sure to smash that dislike button. I made two posts about some videos and asked a guy to subscribe to my YouTube channel. I post videos in the San Diego Off-Road thread because it's pretty much dead and I was hoping to get others to post there again. I posted up some videos of the area the guy asked about and don't think that much of it. I have videos of harder trails for anyone who cares to see them. I'll be sure not to post any more videos here though...

Like I told you when we went out not many people actually watch videos unless its a 3rd gen donating its axle to nature or a 3rd gen that gets sleepy after avoiding a puddle. I'll look at plenty of pictures because you can scroll past quickly and stop on a cool one. I don't even click play on videos unless someone tells me awesome things are going to happen. And dash cam video is usually boring no matter what trail you are on. The dudes that get famous videoing their offroad time turn hours of footage into short clips. It's not your content, it's the format.

I'm not trying to get famous or make money off of this though. The point is to just showcase what is out there and give people an idea of what a trail is like.

This is a better way of saying what I was trying to say.

Then why ask for subscribers? o_O

It takes quite a lot of views to make any worthwhile amount of money; I'm mainly trying to get over 100 subscribers as this unlocks some extra features.

It takes quite a lot (and someone very talented or a unique set of circumstances) to receive enough views to get an appreciable income from YouTube advertisements or to join some sort of network. I have no delusions of becoming an e-celeb and am fine with just posting up some videos of the trails and recoveries that I go through.

Thanks for all the suggestions. So many choices so close to SD. One of my coworkers suggested Sandstone Canyon, anyone have experience with that spot?

I was there a few months ago and I was stunned at how gorgeous it was. And I had no idea something like that was so close. I'd be willing to lead a trip out there once the storms pass and the area dries out. There's lots of soft sand getting there, so I'd like to avoid getting stuck by accident.

Keep an eye on the SoCal forum since I'll be posting there.

Mud I'm not worried about, it's soupy sand. But I'll admit that I have no experience with it, so I could just be over cautious.

Nope. You are not being over cautious. Both will suck your truck in and make for difficult recovery. That muddy desert sand is the absolute worst.

We are actually going to agree here.
