The stealer tried that on my sons Prius at 55k miles. He called me and asked, I told him forget it. Can't find anything in the owners manual concerning T/B/I cleaning. Now he has almost 130k trouble free miles, runs like a champ and averages almost 50 mpg. The stealer tried that on me with my '03 Tundra at 100k miles for $110, did not do it and recently sold it at 276k miles and it ran perfectly. Stealers=$$$$ ! Maybe if it was a GM/Ford/Ram ???

Yamaha made it in spray cans but apparently they may not anymore. I use to use the spray cans but got on a better application method by chance. I have been mixing it with Marvel Mystery Oil and fogging it in with a simple spray bottle. I like it better because you can choke the engine down to stop quicker using a spray bottle than you could with the aerosol spray can. It doesn't take much Ring Free. I mix 2 ounces to 6-8 Marvel Mystery Oil and that works awesome. Heck, MMO is good to spray down the intake by itself.

Put some Permethrin in with it and you won't have a bug in the neighborhood for a week!

As a mechanic, I can say I've seen good things from this service on certain vehicles. But 50k isn't the mileage it's a problem at. Unless it's direct injection. But I don't think even the new Taco's are. Typical mileage is north of 100k for there to be problems. But if you run TOP TEIR GASOLINE, it shouldn't ever be needed. Gently wipe out your T-body when you do your plugs and just rock-'n'-roll.

    Tacoma’s aren’t strictly DI.

Top tier gasoline won’t prevent carbon buildup as DIT engines call for it anyhow. It’s gonna grace you with its presence whether you like it or not, you just gotta hope your engine doesn’t build up as fast as others.

I never made it to that point in my FA20DIT WRX, but that bitch soft knocked on the OEM tune, and really let me know it was there when I tuned. Wasn’t waiting for carbon buildup for make it even worse.

I know the older Tacoma's are port injection, I was unsure if the new engine was or not. My point was, at sub 100k mileages, it would not need an induction system cleaning unless it was DI. Most port injection systems put the injector where it evenly sprays the valves and thus prevents build up from occuring. DI does not have that effect and the circulated oil then quickly leaves deposits that need addressed on a regular basis. (And just because a manufacturer recommends top tier, doesn't mean the driver isn't simply going to put the cheapest available in it.) Top tier is simply one, easy preventive method.
