    Hello,
New member from New Berlin Wisconsin here. I am trading in my 2012 Ford F150, which I bought new, on a Tacoma. I really like the TRD Sport or TRD Off Road, probably a low mileage, late model used truck. Any input on these models? Thank you in advance and I am looking forward to being an active member of the forum.

    Welcome!

There are a few threads already in Sport vs Off Road. I recommend reading through those and making an informed decision as to which one will better suit your needs.

    Opinions are just that.

But there is lots of reading to do here that will differentiate the two models well for you. If you can define for yourself your use of the vehicle, that will help.

Then look closely at the '12-'15 models and '16+ models and decide which appeals to you.

Then take extensive test drives of what you think you might like before you buy. Lots of folks whine about stuff that a good test drive would have reveled for them.

    Good luck shopping!

I was having the same dilemma and ended up with the Off Road. I do quite a bit of camping and hiking so it made sense to me. The Off Road just seems like the "best bang for your buck". The rear locker is also worth having if you plan on towing anything.

I found this somewhere on the forum when I was looking into it:

    Off Road will give you:
    -Rear locker
    -ATRAC off road traction control
-Electronically boosted brakes to support ATRAC, AKA more braking power
    -Hill start assist (automatic)
    -Hill decent control (automatic)
-Roll side curtain airbag disable for heavy off camber trails
    -Softer off road suspension
    -Lighter swaybar
    -Chrome rear bumper
    -Standard hood
    -16" wheels

    Sport gives you:
    -Firmer street sport suspension
    -Heavier swaybar
    -Body matched rear bumper
    -Scooped hood
    -17" wheels

You get a lot more functionality from the Off Road. The cosmetics of the sport are far easier to swap than the functionality of the Off Road. Pick what is important for your needs.

    Hope that helps!

No problem, glad to help. Let us know what you end up with! You may want to wait for the 2020 or get a good deal on a 2019 once they're out.
