My 2nd gen with 3rd gen wheels

Found that out today.

My 2018 off road wheels have been sitting in my garage for a couple months now. FINALLY getting around to looking at tires. Targeting end of this month to join the club.

In hindsight I should have just bought them with the tires, i thought I was going to go a different direction.

 

Toyota told me $1100 to put new tires on it. I spent $200 more and just went this route. SD Wheels on ebay. Good folks to deal with, in my experience anyway.

 

What did you do to your center caps? Looks like a TRD logo?

 

No I mean I used the same tires that were on my stock 05 wheels. Didn't want to wait till I got better ones and they fit just fine. Just had them swap em over.

I used the stock lugnuts that I had with my second gen TRD OR wheels. They were short with the flared base. When I held them up to the 3rd gen wheel they looked good on the back.

Do I need the long ones or am I fine?

I gave my old wheels to a buddy to replace his steel stock wheels. I took a pic of the delivery. He will need new lugs for sure right?

 

These look both like oem wheel sets. I'm assuming if you have oem lug nuts that both of you should be fine.

 

They are but his are steel.

 

Oh okay. I wasn't sure if the oem steel wheels used aftermarket lugs. Now that I think about it, my oem tundra silver steel wheels use aftermarket lugs.

First post here on TW...so many good ideas and insights here! Anyways, picked up a set of 4Runner SR5 wheels awhile back with brand new tires. I got a heckuva deal on them. My intention is to powder coat them black, but they don’t look too bad as is.

 

You could plasti-dip them, then if you decide to go back to the silver, just peel it off, just a thought. Nice ride by the way.

 

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ve thought about the plasti-dip route, and I might dip my wheels this spring or summer when it warms up (just to see what they look like).

 

They honestly look great on the truck. They give a cleaner, more modern look to it versus the oem sport wheels.

My only issue with a lot of the oem wheels is most of them have a very high offset. Some of them would look SO good with a lower offset. This would avoid having to use wheel spacers.

 

in my opinion, a perfect setup are these 3rd gen Offroad wheels with the blackout vinyls and a slight wheel spacer to make them flush. They look absolutely perfect like that.

Either way, they make amazing on your truck versus the original wheels.
