    I think you might be right. It is pretty bad. I don't drive with a heavy foot either.
    EDIT: Next fill up I'm gonna do some proper math on my own part instead of just the infotainment center math.

    I'm usually somewhere between 16 and 18. Mostly city driving, decent amount of hills. Highway I may get 21 at most, but usually more like 19-20. How does anyone get 25 ever?! Must never get above 1500 rpm, which would drive me crazy, not to mention the people behind me on the road.
    Stock OR wheels and tires, Leer cap, just added Prinsu racks as well.

    Makes sense, I doubt anyone bought a Tacoma expecting great gas mileage.

    Mine gets better than my 4.0 Wrangler with 31" tires.

    I was goofing around today and I was staying at the 55 mph speed limit or below and I was able to get 24 mpg over a 30 mile drive. But if I drive with out thinking about it and doing the usual 70 mph I usually get 18-19 mpg and 15-16 around town. I don't care too much about mpg but I would sure like a few extra gallons of tank when I am towing.

    I only have about 8000miles on my truck so i’m hoping i’m wrong and this may be premature, but i’m having trouble believing some of these mileage claims too. Maybe Toyota hired Volkswagens diesel team (circa 1999) to do some selective ECU mileage calculator re-programming? To make a few trucks a tad more optimistic-like?
    I’m pretty easy on the throttle and am not getting anything even close to some of these claims.

    Miles on truck at tonights fillup
    Difference = 398

    Actual amount of fuel added
    398/17.192=23.15 mpg. Truck shows 23.3. It is usually .1 to .2 mpg high.

    Except many people have gotten 28 mpg on individual trips. Long term, no way, but for a specific trip, it is definitely possible.

    28 mpg from a Tacoma with a V6 is difficult to achieve. If it was true highway mpg, Toyota would be boasting those numbers to the max. It just doesn’t happen my magic, it takes serious engineering, weight reduction, higher rear drive gear ratios, not the 3.91 or 4.30 ratios currently in use. Fuel efficient tires would also help. It is a monumental feat for any manufacturer to increase just 1 mpg, which many of us have little understanding what it takes to get there. The internal combustion engine has been exploited and tweaked forever, many experts claim there is no more to gain. We have super slippery synthetic oils, Direct gasoline injection, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI), Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) and Spark Controlled Compression Ignition SpCCI), variable lift and valve timing, ignition timing advanced further than what we ever did in the 60-70s, emission controls which are part of the total engine design package all made possible by electronic technology, extremely light viscosity engine oils, tight bearing clearance tolerance, roller rockers. GDI engines that have 11:1 to 15:1 compression ratios and run on 87 octane gasoline, unheard of years ago. Lean burn engines, swirl combustion chambers, the list goes on and on. Trucks that run better and are much more dependable than what was ever built before. Drive no faster than 55 mph and accelerate like you had a raw egg under your accelerator pedal ( difficult or impractical for most), under no circumstances remove your truck’ chin spoiler and make an effort to lighten up your truck’ weight, for certain your mileage will improve or swap in a 4 cyl turbo diesel and enjoy 26-32 mpg for sure. Diesel for the nay sayers is the most efficient piston engine on the planet. Toyota makes excellent diesels but you will not see one in the USA anymore. In fact, all the Japanese diesels are excellent. Only the auto manufacturer spends so much time, effort and money in the wind tunnel developing new technologies to squeeze every bit of energy out of a drop of gasoline. To think we are smarter or better than them is foolish. No way can we accomplish what they do in our backyards. The privateers who knew anything about this subject , devoted their lives to it, are long gone, Smokey Yunick, Holmann and Moody, all of NASCAR fame. Just a thought.

    My truck is bone stock, tire pressures and all. I've seen 28mpg on quite a few trips. Drive 55-60 mph on the highway with the a/c off, and you will too. I've posted screenshots of the trip screen several times, as have others.

    At 75 on the Interstate, you will never see 28.

    I’ve never seen my tank average go under 22mpg and I drive 70-75 all day on my 50 mile commute with hills. One week I drove only 65mph and averaged 26 for the tank and got about 460 miles out of my tank. But with my average being 22-23 mpg I can expect to get 400-430 miles per tank. The 2.7 does WAY better with mpg! Thoes dealers say 2.7 only gets 1 mpg better than the v6....I call BS. Double cab 2wd with a leer top! Slow as hell tho lol
