Best advice I've ever seen on TW! ;)

I mean, the first go at it you're a fucking noob... so I'll give a guy a mulligan on that.

Those that go back for seconds or even thirds... that's the definition of insanity lol :ballchain:

Just got back from a whole lotta fun in the snow. Took the taco up to Northstar at tahoe. I had a brand new set of 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT/3s put on Saturday and we drove up Sunday afternoon. They were stopping people for chains/snow tires at Applegate on I-80 and the dude flashes 4 fingers, i respond witha thumbs up and he returned it and waved us through.

To keep this post relevent, 1.05 drives really nice on the bigger tire. The tip in that i thought was a little too aggressive on the showroom tires is perfect now. Power is still where i like it and i feel like each gear has a little more range with the bigger tire. I can't wait for custom tunes to be available so I can get the file that accommodates for the inch bigger tire and puts my mph and mpg back to normal so I can get a better idea of my mileage without having to do the math.

Up at 5-7k feet the truck felt a little aenemic but i had it fully loaded up with luggage, 2 people and a dog, coolers, snow chains which i now laugh at purchasing, and 150lbs of sandbags nuzzled into the corners of the bed by the tailgate. Overall i am pleased with the 91 tune on 91 gas. No hickups or stutters, no knocks or pings. Smooth as buttah.

The Tacoma with the Wildpeaks handled the snow phenominally. In the three days we were up there it dumped 6.5 feet of snow. People were all over the place, i had a lifted Ford infront of me who's rear end was kicking all over the place like a mule on the icy road, but the taco soaked up the bumps and tracked perfectly straight through the chatter. I never felt it get loose or slide no matter what the condition. Ice, slush, two feet of powder, the truck ate it up and wanted more. Absolutely confidence inspiring traction and control, I did not get even a little squirley once (except for when i wanted it to).

my experience is that it's not pointless. you've seen all I've been saying about it? even Eric of Archive says about 10-20% improvement over the hangers.

Jesus Christ these guys are still making videos? They are hilarious, I'll watch How to be Skier on a loop when it's the middle of the summer and I have a sudden urge to ski lol

And what kind of improvement would you see with the cross tube? I wouldn't relocate my spare if the difference is marginal.

Been thinking about selling my Wrangler for some All Weather like the Wildpeak, for that time of the year where it's mandatory to have winter tires but they would be overkill, and for those springs when you have -10C one day and 20C the next...

But I would never trade my snow tires for anything less in the roughest part of winter, you just can't beat the kind of traction they give you.

I couldn't recommend them enough. They are super quiet on the road, and I hear they get pretty decent life too.

Exactly! I got mine on a deal from discount tire direct so they were $108 each shipped to my door. Crazy cheap and they’ve exceeded every expectation I’d have of a tire costing double

You got the SL range? Won't see that kind of price on C and E range here, all A/T tires like the KO2 or ST Maxx are about the same price at ~200$
