The Las Vegas test footage has me super suspect of the '19 racing product. It did not swell any confidence within me that NASCAR brass might right this ship before 2021.

It's still hard to pass. The cars need zero down force and soft ass tires.

    New rule.

Winning cars that fail post race inspection, will be stripped of everything and placed in last place. As long as the 2nd place car passes the post race inspection, they get the win.

It's about time they take the win, trophy and everything away from a winner with a cheating car.

Reddit's down, so I'll publish my ideal roadshow-style schedule here. Start in Florida, head West across the deep south, come back across the middle and have All-Star race at a random track, snake back to the midwest and cross the top and upper Northeast before winding back down the Eastern seaboard to Homestead or a rotating venue for the finale.

Let's shorten the schedule and shorten some of the races. Have you ever sat through the Coke 600 and Southern 500 in the heat? It's ridiculously long and not fun. I understand the reasoning back in the day, but it's a spectator sport, and now admittedly squarely an entertainment sport according to comments from NASCAR this week.

FEB- Clash (rotating location in the deep south for Weather concerns)
    FEB- Daytona 500
    FEB- Atlanta 400

    MAR- Barber
    MAR- COTA
    MAR- Phoenix
    MAR- Auto Club 400

    APR- Sonoma
    APR- Las Vegas 400
    APR- Talladega 500

    MAY- Bristol 400
    MAY- Charlotte 400
MAY- All-Star (rotating location is chosen from a track not on full schedule) Iowa? IRP? Nashville? Hickory?

    JUN- Road America
    JUN- Michigan 400
    JUN- Kentucky 400
    JUN- Indianapolis 400

    JUL-Daytona 400

    (Summer Break)

    AUG- Pocono 400
    AUG- Watkins Glen

    SEP- New Hampshire 300
    SEP-Dover 400
    SEP- Bristol 400
    SEP- Richmond 400

    OCT- Martinsville 400
    OCT- Darlington 400
    OCT- Roval
    OCT- Talladega 500

    NOV- Road Atlanta
    NOV- Homestead 400

Pretty much anyone in the Ford camp. I wish HMS would get better at cheating! You know JGR is going to get tagged but the blue oval guys have been doing some shady shit with the bodies for several years now. Penske likes to dent quarter panels and F with the skirting. SHR is running around in convertibles and shit. This rule really means nothing if they don't stop letting them burn the cars down after a race.

-Clash will always be Daytona, they wouldn't want to race at another location and take some attention away before their biggest race of the year
-All star weekend should definitely go to a different location every year. Tracks not on the roster or street circuit in a city would generate excitement. Charlotte does not need 3 damn weekends every year. The 600 mile endurance race and the Roval are perfect.
-Kansas is going to need 1 race. The entire state might riot if both of their races are taken away.
-A new road course takes the 2nd Kansas spot during the playoffs
-Texas will need 2 races, they already hate how F1 is at COTA on the same day as their race. They too will riot if both of their races are taken away.
-Pocono race must be in June or July. Not too hot and not too much rain.

More short tracks damnit, zero down force, soft tires. Make them have to drive the car. 400 hp motors for plate tracks and get rid of restrictor plates.

There was a media briefing a couple days ago, here are the highlights.

Gen 7 - Goal is to be on track in 2021. Just starting discussions with OEMs, teams, etc on specifics of what car will look like (meaning everything, not just body). It's a natural opportunity for new OEMs to join, and there have been discussions with several across the globe. The goal is 1 or 2 new OEMs.

New Engine coming 2022 or later- NASCAR has an agreement with its manufacturers that a new engine won't be introduced until 2022 at the earliest

MENCS - Enhanced Vehicle Chassis is now mandatory in all races (previously optional); Teams have option to use tow straps on front of back and car if they get trapped (gravel pit, wet ballfield, etc). That way won't go on DVP and be towed to garage.

NXS - Composite body and EVC now mandatory in all races (previously optional). Field size now 38 cars. Dash 4 Cash returns to same 4 tracks.

NGOTS - new program Triple Truck Challenge - only Truck drivers eligible to compete at Texas ,Gateway, Iowa. $50K bonus for winner, $100K bonus if you win 2 of 3, $500K bonus if you sweep.

Driver Participation Guidelines - If a Cup driver wins Xfinity or Truck race, that team owner does not get to use that to get into the owners championship playoffs. no playoff points either. Cup drivers can compete in 7 NXS races and 5 NGOTS races, but not in Dash 4 Cash, Triple Truck Challenge or playoff races.

Qualifying - first round of qualifying goes from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. time in between rounds from 7 down to 5 minutes.

Officiating model - series specific officials (used to be group that would work all 3 garages) - same people will be with cars all weekend, "inspection is always open", more harsh penalties for failing pre-race inspection. If you fail twice, you have 15 minute practice hold and crew member ejected.

If you fail postrace inspection, you are disqualified. You no longer win the race, you become last place finisher - no playoff points, no 1st place money, no trophy.

All tracks over 1.2 miles, cars limited to 550hp for 2019. https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2018/10/02/2019-rules-packages-announced-monster-energy-series/

I'm a casual fan but the new rules seem to be pretty good. Glad they finally got that drunken idiot out of the building so they can finally make some good decisions.

Brain France is a freaking dumb ass. He has ruined Nascar. He is all about the almighty dollar. I know most sports are about money now, but he doesn't give a shit about the product. I hope his ass stays out of Nascar.

Just found this thread, been a nascar fan forever, started with cale yarborough and went from there.

Fun fact: matt debenedettos parents are my landlord. I do a lot of side jobs for his dad, who flips real estate.

They are always throwing me extra tickets, pit passes, etc to the local races. Charlotte, Bristol, martinsville, Darlington.

For that reason alone I will never move...lol
