A guy at work saved me about $1100 today. In my 06 Tacoma, I thought the clutch was going out. When I push the clutch pedal in, it goes straight to the floor and stays there, about an inch from the floorboard. My co-worker told me it was just a clutch slave cylinder and that the part only costs about $35 from Advanced Auto Parts. Sure enough, I googled it and found a youtube video of a truck that was doing the exact same thing! Needless to say, I was about to drop it off at a transmission shop for a clutch. I'm sure they would have changed the clutch AND the slave cyclinder and I wouldn't known any different! I need to buy my coworker lunch for a week!

 

Keep an eye on the master cylinder as well. I’m on my third one with my 2nd gen 6 speed. My clutch was doing the same thing as yours. If it’s fixed though, sounds like you found the problem. Just another issue to keep in mind down the road.

With what I’ve done and seen Tacoma’s do with Dakars, I wouldn’t waste my time doing more without doing an exocage first.
