Composit Tool Box that Matches Tacoma bed for $100!

Hey guys, I have gotten so many great ideas from here so far, and I really appreciate them!
I though in giving back some...
I am excited about what I have done! I am sure that is not for everyone taste but for someone like me, that does not want a big metal tool box in the bed, neither wants to expend lots of money on one, I found a great solution.
This is a composite box, triangular shape, you can fit quite a bit in there, in my case, mostly my gym gear, some tools and other stuff that I was floating around the back seat of the truck, including football, soccer ball, other kids stuff.
This box is great, matches the composite material of the bed of the truck, and it is flush with the side walls!
I went to home Depot, got some U-rings, and nuts, drill 2 small holes in each side, just enough to fight the U rings tightly thorough it, and bought 2 black bycicle cables (with locks) for each side.
I really did not want to drill wholes on the bed of the truck to secure the box. So I installed the D-Rings in front, where the bed screws are (another great idea from someone here!) and attached the triangle composite box via cable to the D rings.
Anyway, I hope this photos helps.
Total cost was $126 including the box, 2 cables and lock.

where did you get the box??? that would be perfect for me. storage for more stuff as i dont have a back seat. the way its designed i can still put my birtbikes in the back and have room for the front wheels...

 

Hey I got the box at Tractor Supply store. They sell everyday for $99, I wish I could have found a coupom...
In fact, my wife just told me that you can buy coupoms for almost everystore out there for $1 on ebay. Did you guys know that???
Last night I bought a 20% coupom form H.Freight for $1.50 !!

Thanks, I'm going to look into this! I've been looking for a box but don't want to drop 200-300 bucks on a metal one.

Looks like a trailer tongue box. Nice idea!

 

You could get a long carriage bolt, drill a hole through the bottom of the box and connect it through the center drain hole. May make it look cleaner.

 

Would the bed material be strong enough to hold the box, if it is heavy and if god forbid you were in an accident? My concern that the box could become a potentially deadly projectile. I'm not familiar with the strength of the bed.

 

Not sure, I have the bedmat held down that way. Maybe add an additional hole to mount. I would think 2 mount points with proper hardware you would be fine.

while drilling watch the gas tank, looks great and would probably still be functional with a tonneau!

 

Yes you found it, this is the box!
Yes you can drill the holes in the box and truck and I am sure it would look very clean.
I though the same, but than again, knowing myself and that in a couple years may want something else, other box, no box, and have those extra holes in the truck bed may not be a great thing...
If someone ended up getting this box and drill the truck for it, please post some photos so we can see how it looks, etc.

It is a nice box, good quality, strong and looks like it would be very water tight, the only thing that I am not crazy is the little metal latch in the front, but it is not bed...

Just make sure that before you buy the one at 4 wheel parts that it has the same dimensions of the Truck Supply. So you can get the biggest one for your money.
