    They are chasing demographics. As their average buyers' age increases (and Amercians keep getting fatter), they expect it to become easier to use everything, including their trucks. I hate that it adds cost to everyone. Even if it's only an option, through increased manufacturing and supplier costs that increase still spills over into other models that don't order it
