What situations would you use the rhino vs the arb snatch? I’m looking to buy some and went down the rabbit hole. Considering just getting both.

The Rhino are sold as a “ recovery tow strap”. I bought them to snatch with and they are strong as hell. We pull stuck forklifts with them and have no issues

I was wondering if pulling smaller cars out of snow which would be better? Recovery tow or snatch? I did some reading and understand that snatch straps don’t exert as much abrupt force on the vehicles and are supposedly better? The rhinos are supposed to be used when completely taught?

You want a snatch strap. From what I could tell the Rhino is a snatch strap and I use it as one. It is not abrupt when snatching a vehicle and it has worked great for me

The rhino would be used to tow a broken down vehicle, or pulling someone out of a ditch. The ARB (or other brands of snatch straps) would be used if someone is stuck in the mud, where a running start would be needed to break the vehicle free.

You don’t tow with a snatch strap, or snatch with a tow strap. It’s also important to size the snatch strap correctly.

They call it a “Recovery strap” and it sure acts like a snatch strap when I use it. Lifetime warrany so I guess I will see how it holds up

Your bad advice is going to get someone hurt but I’m glad your strap has a lifetime warranty. It is not designed to store kinetic energy. Will it? Most certainly but it should not be loaded. It’s a great strap and serves a purpose, I have 2 of them. Do some reading.

I sunk my last truck in some really deep stuff, my buddy had to go like 20mph while there was slack in the line to yank me out really hard lol. The rhino strap has never failed me. Been yanked twice and I’ve towed 3 vehicles with it.

If someone gets hurt it’s from their own stupidity or carelessness. I have seen many very ugly snatches with chains and other non “snatch straps” without any injuries.

Is a snatch strap ideal? Absolutely! I certainly could be wrong but it seemed to me the heavier duty Rhinos were intended as snatch strap. Maybe I bought into their marketing but so far I have had zero issues

    I did a little reading

The Rhino USA off-road recovery straps, made of 80% polyester and 20% silk are designed to be used as tow straps and recovery straps. Because the Poly/Silk Webbing is designed to stretch, this strap works well as both a recovery snatch straps and a general use tow strap.

What weight rating is good for the Tacomas? I looked around here and it was a toss up between 17k and 24k lb rating.

The 17K one will be much more comfortable and more suited to our trucks. The 24K one gets a little harsh since it can't stretch ideally.

On Amazon, rhinousa says 15% stretch in one answer then 5% in another. So not sure which. I think the best bet is to get both. Correct me if I’m wrong,

Try to pull vehicle out first with rhino recovery tow strap at full tension, if can’t get out, switch to snatch strap for running start recovery.

Nothing wrong with having both. Just use whatever suits the situation best
