hi folks, just got the OEM tri folding tonneau for my long bed. A couple questions for those that have it and have sealed it from the elements.

I know that the front gaps are filled with the side rail ends caps, have you found that that is sufficient in sealing it from water?

The back is gonna be more difficult from what I can see. Will a typical tailgate seal work? What have you guys found to work?

Thanks for the info, I tried using the search but it turns up a whole lot of nonsense I don’t have time to sift thru.

I recently documented my efforts in this thread here

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-tonneau-leak-prevention-efforts.569931/

if you dont feel like reading it, i ultimately discovered that all of my water (and it was alot) was leaking through the joints of the cover itself and i found no way to prevent it. i just sold it because of that fact. other than the water infiltration, i liked the cover.

Weird, I didn’t have any leak issues from the last rain we had. It wasn’t Atlanta monsoon level but I’d say enough came down that it was a propper test of water sealing. I hope it doesn’t just start to get worse since it is practically new. It’s newer than my 2 month old truck.
I’ll read your thread, thanks for sharing your experience with me

Hey do you think you can take a pic of your front rail end caps and how they orient themselves, I’m having trouble installing them, my truck didnt have the rubber pieces so when I got them today I thought it would PO. Right in.

you talking about the rubber pieces that take up some of that gap between the bulkhead rail and the side rail? if so, those were sold when i sold my oem cover. there are definitely pictures of those somewhere here on the forum. i have seen them. might take a little searching. if you mean something else please try to elaborate and i would be happy to take a picture for you.

Yes exactly. I think I found other threads with pics on how it fits into the slot and the cut out on rails I need to make
