Not personally, but in the building I work in there is a business that makes cable assemblies. He has all the right tools to do these quickly and easily. I will get a price to have him make them up in batches. I will not be getting OEM wire colorsthough.

 

Sounds good. Please keep me in mind for one. I am watching the 2Lo mod thread in general.

I could not care less about wire colors for a PnP harness. They can be all chrome-colored.

Coincidentally, of all the STi stuff I have on my GC, none of it's pink. The closest thing are my struts and springs, which are red.

 

Agreed. A 2Lo harness would be a welcome help in the reversing a trailer uphill game.

 

I get what you are saying my point was that you aren't necessarily buying a car specifically to tow with. When you buy a truck, it's kind of expected. Granted not everyone hauls 6k of crap around, but still.

Very true. I do applaud in my head when I see cars with hitches driving around.

It also upsets me when the same cars and crossovers get much higher tow ratings in other countries. We hoped to tow something with our Forester, but either the US-type tongue weights or the CVT severely limit it here. The Taco to the rescue.

 

This is in part due to the crash regulations in the US.

For our Forester, it was said that there might be minor unibody reinforcements that the USDM didn't get since all global trims had a 2,000kg rating.

 

Well, we have that 5mph crash reinforcement on our vehicles. A lot of the trailer hitch assemblies replace the rear bumper beam with a beam with a receiver. Subaru strictly limits the tow rating to a Class 1 rating, thus the 1.25" receiver size.

 

We're using the global platform on all of the newer vehicles, so it's all universal now.

 

That was my guess, but I like the idea of other theory. I can get on board with the lower tongue weights in other countries also.
